My son and I stopped at Springhill Suites on our way from Georgia to New Jersey. We enjoyed the pool and spa. We had a great night sleep. Ceecee welcomed us to Breakfast (sausage, oatmeal and my son's favorite AppleJacks cereal). So many friendly and smiling faces. Overall great hotel to stay at and we would highly recommend you stay here when traveling into Virginia.

Only stayed one night and there was a large group there. This large group took over the whole place. In the TV area where the lounge was filled with loud adults and kids. We headed to our room about 8:30 that evening after going out to have a quieter time. The kids were knocking on the door as they were running up and down the hall way, yes, the parents didn't stop them. I thought surely this will calm down by 12 midnight. Well I was wrong, this when on until 3:09AM in the hallway people running talking while going up and down the hallway. Then the groups out side in front of the hotel talking loud.. It was so loud you thought it was in the room. We left the TV on to see if that helped, it didn't. The front desk should have done something to stop this behavior. I was a paying guest also. Very disappointed. I told the young guy who checked me out and he said they had had trouble with them all week. So I had to pay $ 200.00 to stay there and not sleep. The front desk should have stopped the group from disturbing the other guest. I was very upset and very tried there next morning. I all I got was I am sorry, they are leaving today.

Three people booked a family room for a trip. The room was large enough, but it lacked a large enough table. In addition, the upper bunk bed may not have been designed with central air conditioning in mind. The air outlet is at the head of the bed, which not only blows towards people, but also makes a lot of noise when sleeping at night. Let me talk about the price again. I really admire this agent. He collected 1,500 yuan a night and then went to ******* to order a room for 150 yuan a night. He really has a business mind.

First of all, it's not a terrible hotel. Staff is nice, the rooms are nice, and its clean. However, ANY coffee drinker knows the first thing they want upon waking is fresh good coffee. I woke up hungry and wanted my coffee, so when I went down to the lobby looking for where they kept the coffee. The only coffee you can get you have to buy from their bistro. I don't know anyone that wants to stand in line for a dang cup of coffee 2 minutes after they wake. I stood there for 5 minutes waiting for a person to serve me. Nothing. I went back to the desk and they said she was in the back and would be available shortly. I continued to wait and became very agitated. So I went behind their counter and was going to serve myself. I could not figure out where to get the coffee from. So then I went into their staff kitchen (twice) to find them so I could have a cup of coffee. I yelled out for anyone and No one was back there! I finally gave up and went back to my room and drank the nasty room coffee and had to go without eating breakfast because you have to buy it and wait for staff that seem to not exist. These bistros getting put into the hotels are to make more money and that's whatever, but you now have an obligation to ”serve.” And coffee is extremely important you'd better be on your game. Now I feel like when I book I will always avoid places like this because this incident ruined my day. Lastly, their staff smoke cigarettes right outside the door making the entire lower level smell like a bar. Get your COFFEE together people!

This hotel gets a mixed review from me, for sure. First of all, this is an older property that has likely been renovated many times over the years. As such, the layout befits an older property, and it doesn't always line up with modern expectations, such as stairs' going directly outside rather than to the lobby. However, that can't really be changed too much without tearing down the facility and building a new one, so I feel as though it would be unfair to ding them over that. Similarly, the elevators were being renovated while we were staying there, and this limited the elevators' capacity, as only one (of two total) was available during our stay. This is a temporary inconvenience and necessary work, so I'm giving them a bye on that work. As far as our room went, I took no issue with it. It was clean, it had adequate lighting, and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast service was about what you would expect for a Holiday Inn Express. Nothing too fancy, but not terrible, either. My only complaint was that the warming units that the food sat in continuously made contact with the sneeze guard, which made for a frustrating experience (feeling like you need three hands to serve yourself). That could probably be remedied easily enough if someone cared enough to do it. The parking and access situation, however, was unacceptable. The parking lot is on the back side of the building. This stems from the property's being very old, so I'm not willing to ding them for that on its own, as there is an entrance to the lobby on the parking lot side. However, I will ding them for how access to the parking lot is handled late at night. After 11 PM, the doors facing the parking lot are locked, and there is no access allowed through that door, with all entering and exiting being done via the door next to the front desk. The door to the parking lot also has a sign posted on it when the doors are locked stating as such, and threatening immediate removal from the property should the doors be opened during those hours. That means that in order to access the lot, you have to walk completely around the outside of the building. To add insult to injury, there is a card access box that allows access to be limited to only registered guests, but the doors are locked in such a way as to bypass the card access system. The staff said that this was due to a problem with homeless trying to sleep in the hotel's lobby, but inconveniencing paying guests is no way to do it. All in all, I suppose that this isn't a bad place based on the price and the location, but I'm not inclined to stay again, as the inconveniences outweighed the positives.

After rushing for one night, it is difficult to give a sufficient and reasonable evaluation. The location of the hotel is in the city, there are still a lot of places to eat around, there are not many places to visit. The hotel itself is ok.

GGuest UserWe had a bad Airbnb experience and needed a reliable, comfortable place to stay for the night. This hotel is at a Golf Course and it is very beautiful!! We got a great price but I chose 1 King instead of 2 Queens on accident. They we're super happy and kindly changed the room at no cost to us. When we got to our room, a sticker was over our door showing that the room had been cleaned and no one had entered. The beds were huge, plush and very clean. I slept like a baby. The room was very clean, too and the A/C was pumping out the cool air. The room was clean, quiet and cool. We enjoyed it very much!

GGuest UserWe thought that they had renovated the hotel, but they only did certain updates. We had to switch 2 times until 3rd time found a room that the toilet didnt leak on the floor. Bathroom tubs need update. More lights and better tub grip than rubber mat that is not sanitary. The tables & dressers need an update, there were pen marks, scuff marks. A good refresh job.

GGuest UserAs Diamond Elite members of IHG, we travel lots. We've actually stayed at this hotel many times, since it is so close to the Richmond airport. The staff is wonderful and enjoy working together. They treat us well and usually give us an upgrade because of our status. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because this time the hotel seemed to be behind on maintenance. (Our house is also behind on maintenance right after the holidays, so we understand. However, this is a business, and the fees/points are rather expensive.) The blinds in the suites are operated by a device on the wall. However, it did not work in our first room and also in the second room they moved us too. At that point we didn't want to move again, so we just put up with it. There was no way to manually operate the blinds as a backup. There was no maintenance staff on the property to fix this situation. One of the TVs didn't work due to a power outage, but they told us how to fix it, and their directions worked. We will stay there again since it is close to the airport and the staff is so nice.

GGuest UserI am a Hilton Honors member and I stay in Hampton Inns multiple times a year. The key to any brand is consistency and this property is clearly falling short, mainly in the area of service. Digital key didn't work at check-in. Young woman at front desk said, ”It hasn't worked in weeks.” No ”sorry,” no care whatsoever. (For frequent travelers, the digital key, and being able to skip being processed at the front desk, is the main reason to stay with the brand.) There was no shampoo in the guest room, for example, and so, after a long day of travel, I went to the front desk to ask for some. The front desk person looked around, couldn't find any, and, after several minutes of looking, handed me some shampoo from another brand, something that looked like she grabbed it from the lost & found drawer. Again, no ”sorry,” no care, no ”Would you like some sent up to your room tomorrow?” Same lack of care when I asked for my rate to be adjusted to my company's corporate rate: ”I can't do that. My manager has to do that.” No ”sorry for the inconvenience,” no ”let us make it easier on you on I'll leave a note and have the manager do it for you tomorrow,” nothin'. She didn't even have the energy to say, ”Come back tomorrow,” which would have been annoying, but at least better than the blank stare of ”sucks to be you” that I received. Got the same attitude from the front desk in subsequent days when I asked for decaf coffee. And again when I asked for a check-out time of Noon. No one ever asked, not once, ”how's your stay?” or ”Is there anything else we can do for you?” Staff needs basic, basic customer service training where smiling is step one in the formula. My refrigerator in the room was broken, but I didn't dare tell anyone. I couldn't bare another indifferent response. The room itself was clean, but a bit beat and the mattress sloped downward toward the headboard in an uncomfortable way. As I said, not a great representative of the Hampton or Hilton brand.

GGuest UserFirst, I will say that we traveled through several states and stayed at two other Comfort Suites over a period of 10 days. I had been told that as a Choice member that I could request a late check out. I asked for a 2:00 PM check out but was told no by the night clerk. I had planned to ask again in the morning, but we overslept. Robert came banging on our door at 11:35 AM and was quite rude. He told me that if we were not out of the room by 12:00 PM that I would be charged another night. We had a toddler with us, so it was very stressful for him to demand that we vacate in such a short time. I think he could have allowed us another 10-15 minutes, but he was quite nasty. We scrambled and packed up in the short time and vacated the room at 11:58 PM. The other Comfort Suites we stayed at in SC, and VA Beach treated us very well and explained their policies upfront so there would not be any misunderstanding. I will not stay at this Comfort Suites again (I have family in the area). It was not as nice as the other Comfort Suites in SC and VA Beach.

GGuest UserThe hotel was conveniently located about 10 mins from the airport and close to food and shops perfect for a short visit. For the price and the room I think you get a great deal especially in the surrounding area, stayed in the one bedroom king suite which is setup like a cozy one bedroom apartment with a kitchenette, dining bar, living room area, bathroom outside of the bedroom and the bedroom with king bed. Room was clean and setup was as pictured only complaints are the elevators are broken so we had to carry luggage up 3 flights of stairs and the phones in room don’t work, and there is no service attendant to bring you extra towels or linen you have to go to the front desk to get it yourself. Staff was pleasant, check in was seamless and so is check out would stay again
