New Garden Hostel

Feel a bit ripped off. Booked a 4-person room, then found out it had no private bathroom, so I had to pay an extra 400 to switch to a double room like this! Not recommended!

Guys, please be careful and don't get ripped off by this hostel. I'm a traveler with my family, and we booked this hostel three months before Chinese New Year 2026. When we checked in on February 18, 2026, we were extremely disappointed with the service. The hostel, located at "Flat C2, 13/F, Mirador Mansion, 58 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong," turned out to be just a tiny reception area, and we were given a room on the 8th floor, not the 13th. The room itself was incredibly small, nothing like the pictures on their website. There was no TV, no private bathroom, and the air conditioning was a tiny unit with no remote, so we couldn't control it. The bed was just a basic mattress on plywood, sagging in the middle, and it creaked terribly. It was a far cry from what was advertised. I complained, but the hostel staff said they had the right to assign any available room and that it didn't have to match the photos. This is truly disappointing and shows a complete lack of respect for customers. Be careful, everyone – don't fall for this scam. The room photos are apparently just illustrations.

"Did you book the wrong room?" The receptionist looked at my husband and me and shook his head, saying, "The public bathroom is used by many people." I said, "No, I booked a room with a private bathroom." The receptionist shook his head again, explaining that the price I booked was for a public bathroom, and asked me to check the order content. I clicked on the Ctrip website and browsed the order content, shouting, "I remember someone wrote in the comments that it was a private bathroom." The receptionist said, "That's not the room type you booked." I scrolled through the pages and couldn't find any description about the bathroom. The receptionist pointed in the direction of my mobile phone page and asked me to click on the room type details, and saw that the private bathroom was crossed out. He reminded me that I must click here to check when booking a room, and the room type is clearly explained above. Asked, "Do you want to add 100 Hong Kong dollars to stay in a room with a private bathroom?" I looked around and nodded. The room is very small, with all the basic facilities hanging on one wall. The location is near the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station, and the transportation is very convenient, which is the biggest advantage.

It is a very cost-effective accommodation in Asia! The hotel will provide check-in details before check-in. Our flight did not arrive until 11:20 pm. I informed the hotel in an email, and finally their staff sent me the check-in instructions via Line. The whole process was very smooth and the staff were very polite and friendly. The hotel is literally at the center of the universe, and it's very convenient to come back even if you go shopping until 12 o'clock! Don't expect too much, just treat it as an affordable place to stay.

The location is really great, and it's only a 10-minute walk to Victoria Harbour. The owners are very helpful, and it's very safe, so there's no need to worry at all.
