Aloha Suites Waikiki

Booked this hotel / apartment as it was reasonably priced & only about 450 feet from Waikiki Beach. When we first arrived, we were unable to figure out how to get our keycard. Called & someone came over to help us get it out of the locking box. We then learned we would be in room 403 aka 4th floor. Didn’t realize there wasn’t an elevator when booking. My husband & I are both in our 60’s. Wouldn’t book here again due to no elevator & having to carry our luggage weighing approximately 59 pounds each up 4 flights of stairs. The room was clean, towels & toiletries were left for our 5 night stay. We were asked to take our garbage out upon leaving the hotel. We actually carried it out to the dumpster everyday. There was a two burner stove so my hubs cooked a few nights. The hot water took forever in the sink as well as shower. It was reported to hotel staff & they are having their handyman check it out. They did have beach chairs, umbrellas & boogie boards available for guests on the first floor.

Very close to the beach and walking distance to shops! We booked a queen room with queen size bed but we got one double bed instead. Also the guy in the hotel’s reception could’ve been nicer and more helpful. Other than that, it was great experience!

The suites are located on Lemon St.: it's really an alley with lots of leaking smelling trash dumpsters. There isn't an elevator. We hauled out luggage up 2 flights of stairs. There is no main office to call for information or housekeeping. You have to call an answering service to get your electronic key over the cell phone. The bed was about a foot off the floor and the mattress looked and felt like it came from the Goodwill Store . Smoke alarm didn't work. There was one drawer in the nightstand, you will live out of your suitcase. If your suite is in the first or second floor, your patio faces a fence. If you on floors 3 or 4 you get to look at a parking lot. I would rate this place a MINUS 1 star!

Aloha Suites is a no frills place to stay in Waikiki. It is a block from Waikiki beach and near the Honolulu Zoo. Our room had a full refrigerator, small kitchen with a microwave and stove top. We were able to cook our breakfast each morning and eat out on our little lanai. We were on the first floor and had lots of privacy. The room was also very clean. We spent several days at the beach while visiting and the place had beach chairs, boogie boards and other beach equipment for use. We would definitely stay here again.
