We've stayed at Ocean Drive for 7 or 8 consecutive years, always during the week of July 15th, our anniversary. We've always been very satisfied. The desk, housekeeping and maintenance staff have always been very friendly, courteous and efficient. In an effort to prevent a recurrence of a lost reservation by another hotel, many years ago, I always call the hotel the night before we were scheduled to arrive. So, I called Ocean Drive about 11:30 the night before to confirm our reservation. I was told by a very nice lady working the late shift that we were, in fact, scheduled to arrive the next day and booked for a King, Oceanfront Suite. Emphasis on Suite. We live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, about 30 minutes from Ocean City. But, years ago, we decided we would spend over 9 hours driving time, traveling 476 miles and spending over $1,500.00 to stay at Ocean Drive for 5 or six days. Especially since this was our 50th Anniversary, we were really looking forward to a nice, relaxing stay at the beach. When we arrived, we had the distinct misfortune to find a lady named Gretchen handling Check-ins at the Desk. The last thing you want to be confronted with, when beginning your vacation at a hotel, is an Attitude from the Desk person. Maybe the battery on her late model Broom had died the night before, and she had to walk to work. For whatever reason, she took it upon herself to award our reservation to someone who was evidently a walk-in. Though she told us she didn't know who changed or why our reservation had been changed, it was pretty obvious it was her doing. She said that there was one remaining suite matching our reservation. After receiving a key, I went to check it out. It turned out that it was located on the 6th floor on the outer wall of the South end of the hotel. Rooms on that wall overlook what is called the ”Pavilion”. The town's hot spot at Main Street and Ocean Drive where bands, music, arcade and crowd noises last until late at night. I returned to the desk and told the Gretchenator that we did not wish to stay in that room. So, she then informed us that the only thing available was a Handicap room. Emphasis on ROOM. This was definitely not a SUITE. It consisted of a Bedroom with a bath, sink and microwave. So, if the weather wasn't good for the beach, we could stack pillows and watch the TV located at the foot of the bed. Unfortunately for us, the weather wasn't very good for 3 of the 5 days, so we watched a lot of TV. On our last day, I managed to get an audience with the General Manager, a beautiful young lady named Lindsay. She was very polite, listened to my story and said ”Thank you.” I told her that, though I was sure the hotel would not go broke, we wouldn't be returning to Ocean Drive Resort in future years. Next year we will return to the Avista Hotel, a couple doors up the street. Ocean Drive will have $1,500.00 less with which to fund Gretchen's salary next year

Wish I had read my own review before booking this place. The hotel and the rooms were clean, and the staff is pleasant. King bed had some of the smallest pillows I've ever seen, that was weird. They've clearly invested a lot of money to convert something tired and run down into something nicer, but- walking through the building all we could muster was ”what have we done to ourselves”. When we pulled in the parking lot, we kind of already knew this place was going to be unique, just looking at the folks milling around the parking lot. This is not your hotel for a romantic weekend away...it's a stop, sleep, be gone hotel. Regretted booking non-refundable....I'd have never gone inside after pulling in the parking lot.

Someone in our party chose this location due to it being more economic. Parking is on site and location is pet friendly. Rooms were clean and fresh although the hallways smell musty. There is free breakfast which is nice but they lock the area where breakfast is served after serving hours so there is only the front lobby to gather in. When asked if we could be let into the area to play cards and visit we were told no. Staff is on the rude side - mostly. They are not very accommodating- actually told me they don’t get or send mail from this location so they could not put my postcards with their out going mail. There was a hotel mailbox right out front (which I used) and my mail was taken. Staff must not know what mail is. Due to it being pet friendly, a dog got loose and ran the hallway, dogs barked at all hours, and I actually witnessed a couple opening their door to be surprised by a dog which wasn’t theirs in the room Seems they were given an incorrect room to stay in. If price is your driving factor then this hotel is fine, otherwise I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

Great place to stay in Myrtle Beach. We rented a king bed with ocean view balcony. We were not disappointed with watching the ocean sunrise from our room. Room was spacious with full fridge, freezer, small stovetop and mini dishwasher. The hot breakfast buffet was a nice perk for one less meal to eat out. We did not use the pool for our visit but looked great and would be fun for kids. Its so nice to be on the beach and boardwalk to go walking. I would definitely stay here again or recommend to otherw for the price. I got a great deal on hopper app 2 weeks before hand.

Great stay. Very nice quiet hotel. Across from outlet mall. Heavy traffic at times near hotel. Renovations taking place on exterior. Did not effect stay at all. MIght be due to fact it was weekend. Interior very clean and quiet. Front desk staff was great. Enjoyed speaking with Nick afternoon desk clerk. He really seemed to enjoy his job. Breakfast standard Hampton fare. Staff ok and seemed to keep up with things and keep area clean. I get the impression this is a slower time at hotel than summer. I expereienced no issues during stay. One plus. I requsted housekeeping and it was actually done. In so many Hilton hotels now you ask for it and they don't do it. I appreciate it was done as requested. One thing to note hotel is a good distance from the beaches area but you will save money staying here. Also two restaurants adjacent to property you can walk to but we chose not to.

SSunday SClearly, ”clean” is relative. The hotel has a sheen of dust/dirt. Their standards of clean are subpar. I'm so disappointed in the hotel. Front desk staff was VERY friendly and helpful. One housekeeper had to come and clean again after we checked in and she was super pleasant. Hair on shower wall, greasy tile floors that hadn't been mopped, dust and sand on the desk and other surfaces. Remotes were filthy (I always travel with bleach wipes and the wipes had visible dirt on them from the buttons). The breakfast was ho-hum and the area not that clean. Serving utensils were never cleaned or swapped out. And hot food and Styrofoam plates and bowls is diabolical. The young man was nice. The lady was rude and had on a dirty shirt at 7:30am. Toddler underwear were in one of the elevators for more than 24 hours. Trash can was dirty at 6:55am. The bulk of the housekeeping staff appear to be white women, and as a black woman in the South, they did not feel hospitable (to me, and I know the vibe well). They barely speak even when greeted. I'm a platinum IHG member on a tour with Holiday Inn Vacations. Both companies should be ashamed.

Susan at bar was the absolute best! I am a flight attendant and travel all over and she was the most attentive and kindest bartender ever. So refreshing to get awesome service after a long day of flying. She was also knowledgeable of the drinks and menu and helped me make my decision on what to get. Just loved her

GGuest UserThis was our first trip to Myrtle Beach October 8-11, with two children ages 3 and 8. We did weeks worth of research before choosing this resort. **You will always find scary and negative reviews for places but I promise you that The Breakers does not disappoint! (Unless you are difficult to please!)** We stayed in the Paradise building on the 20th floor. The view was amazing! The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The water pressure in the shower was great! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and eat meals. The employees at this resort work hard to keep it clean and safe. Housekeeping checked in daily to replenish towels and take our trash. We enjoyed the pools and hot tubs and lazy river. This is a great location, steps from the ocean and walking distance to stores and restaurants. It was nice to have a Starbucks right across the street! It would have been nice if the kids pool was operating since our children and other families were interested in utilizing that amenity. However I was informed by front desk staff that operating hours are determined by the weather and the security team. The shuttle service was great and the driver was knowledgeable and friendly. We were picked up from the airport and were able to schedule rides to local attractions. Overall it was a great trip and we are already looking forward to returning! Thank you Breakers!

GGuest UserWe just arrived yesterday and were skeptical after a bad experience with Booking.com We booked this stay in July and 2 weeks ago received notification it had been canceled. I immediately contacted the resort directly and rebooked. They were unable to get us in the same room Saturday thru Saturday but had to put us in a non oceanfront room the first night. Not liking this room, not gonna lie, but hopefully today when we check in to our next room it will be better. Having said that, we had a great first night!! JUDY at registration was so sweet and understanding. She tried her best to put us in a room where we wouldn't have to switch today. She couldn't but did tell us we would be in our room early today and she was super helpful. Thank you Judy!! We then went down to the tiki bar. It was 6:15 and we were told they would be closing at 7. But there was a big party arriving around 7:30 and SARAH agreed to stay open a little later and she was fantastic!! The drinks we had were perfect and she was a wonderful bartender!! CARLA, the cook, also did a wonderful job feeding everyone when they arrived. Neither of them complained about staying over but did it willingly and they were both pleasant and professional!! So although we do have to check out and then back in, which we are not happy about, everything has been great so far!!! I will write another review once we are in our permanent room!

GGuest UserLoved the room. It was very clean, and we had fresh towels every day. I highly recommend this motel, for your next stay in North Myrtle Beach. Everyone was so friendly, too. The only problem that we had, was when a huge storm came through, and the window leaked at the top, but they took care of it, right away. Even though I was not in time, for the breakfast bar, that's in the motel, there is a wonderful pancake restaurant within walking distance, of the hotel. I think it was called Southern Sunrise. I highly recommend it. We have stayed at this hotel twice, now, and we love the pool, and the location. It's not that far from the beach, either...just a few blocks away, or you can drive to it. There's plenty of stores nearby, too. I give this motel 5 stars!

GGuest UserThis was a great hotel! They did everything right. From the moment we pulled up we were pleased. Check in was fast. The staff friendly and helpful. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The setup for towels at the pool/beach was convenient. They have lots of activities for you to participate in. They have a shuttle bus that will take you to and from business within a 2 mile area!!! So no need for Uber! The hotel sits right on the beach with beach access. The view of the beach is beautiful!!! The only thing I recommend is that they upgrade their cable tv setup. There is no channel guide and there is no options to watch personal streaming services you may have. However, that alone won’t stop me from booking again. Great job Hilton! 😀More

GGuest UserUpon checking in, front office staff completely overwhelmed, not welcoming and seemed to be disgusted as more people were walking in. Disappointed that there was a $12 parking fee per day that I was not told about until checking in, and on top of that a 2.5% fee for using a card even though they are cashless. Not sure why that’s our fault. Also either had to charge a card $200 for a hold or pay a non refundable $39.99 charge. Rooms are a little outdated and there is a funky smell in the hallways/rooms, but hey, it’s myrtle beach 🤷‍♀️ 5 stars go to Scott in maintenance: Had an issue with a lamp in our room, called maintenance & Scott came up right away, fixed the issue, apologized & thanked us for staying. The maintenance guy thanked us but not front staff, maybe Scott could teach the front about customer service. Interested in seeing what the rest of the week holds.

Leaving we were checked out by Mr McIver, who himself was super nice and checked us out in a timely manner. For picking out a hotel from online my husband did a great job.
