Kyu-Karuizawa Hotel Shinonome Reviews

The hotel is conveniently located near Karuizawa Shinkansen Station, about a 12-minute walk away. The surrounding area is very elegant with lush greenery, and the hotel facilities are comprehensive. Breakfast is exquisite. It's also very easy to get to Karuizawa Ginza Street, roughly a 7-minute walk.

Karuizawa is a beautiful and quiet town, easily accessible from Tokyo station with Hokuriku Shinkansen. The room is very spacious relative to Tokyo hotel room size. This hotel is not super near to the JR station but is acceptable for solo traveller like me. It is around 10 to 15mins work, depending on your pace. This hotel has a timeless village cottage vibe! Definitely worth a visit!

The hotel staff were incredibly attentive.

It's more like a guesthouse, and there's no elevator. You view the room before booking. Also, there are no convenience stores near the hotel.

Room was a bit small for 3 people not much space to put our luggage, also there is no elevator and we didn’t get much help getting the luggage up. It is close to the train station and overall it’s okay for groups of 2 considering most hotels in Japan are really small.

It's a bit of a walk from the station, about 8 minutes, which is perfectly acceptable. It's a guesthouse run by an elderly Japanese couple. The building is a little old, but clean and tidy, and the couple were very welcoming. I would choose it again next time I have the chance.

The room was fairly clean, but there's no elevator on the second floor, so you have to carry your luggage up yourself. The hotel is small but charming, about a ten-minute walk from Karuizawa Station. It's a ten- to fifteen-minute walk to Old Ginza and Unmoyuchi. The facilities are a bit dated, soundproofing is only so-so, and there's no onsen (hot spring).
