My wife and I stayed here on a Saturday night. The place itself is beautiful. The mansion and setting are both gorgeous, with nicely decorated public spaces and lovely views from the yard, which is overlooked by some probably century-old trees. Given all that, our room was a bit of a letdown. It wasn't bad, certainly. The king bed was comfortable. There was a small balcony overlooking the front lawn. And it was clean. But it had a bare-bones feel to it, with little in the way of decor or amenities. It certainly didn't look like the rooms shown on their website. Before we arrived, they contacted my wife, who booked the room, to ask if it was OK that they were moving us from 218 to 216. Sure, we said. Now I wonder if some of the rooms have been renovated, and some not, and they put us in one of the latter. I'm sure this is a good place for wedding parties, but for us, it was only OK. It had neither the amenities of a hotel nor the coziness and personalized service of a B&B. Five stars for the setting, three for the room, so I'll give it a four.
