MM Hill Koh Samui Hotel

Bo Phut Koh Samui|0.93km from Samui Elephant Sanctuary
I don’t believe in leaving negative reviews, but people need to STAY AWAY from this hotel. It was a total nightmare and ruined our trip! We nicely asked the male owner for a higher room away from the road, where he started yelling at us. He first, couldn’t locate our booking after 10 minutes even after I showed him on my phone through my Agoda app and emails. He didn’t want to help and was rude to my Thai girlfriend and me. A cleaner lady heard him yelling and said he is always like this in Thai and nicely got a key for a higher room away from the road. I’ve never experienced this before and was utterly shocked by his behaviour. If you log onto Tripadvisor and look at the 1 star reviews, it’s a common problem with the male owner at this hotel where some reviews say the owners like to get drunk at times. I’m not the only person being yelled at when I ask for something nicely. The room was average where the air conditioner was weak. It took a good hour to cool down the room. I couldn’t go to the toilet cause the toilet paper holder was in the way in a small tight corner. No toilet paper was in the room, so I had to go to a restaurant down the road to use the toilet. I have an average body size for a Westerner. It’s 2022, and you would think the internet would be fast everywhere, but it was only 5MB speed which dropped out all the time and was very slow, like dial-up. I’ve stayed at many hotels around Ko Samui over the years, and the internet is always great. I had full bars of Wifi strength where the hotel was very quiet, but the internet was very poor and unusable even at 3am. I had to spend 400 baht for an internet plan on my phone and set up a hotspot. The room was never clean, even after putting a sign on the door to clean it in the morning. When it was time to check out after 2 regretful days where haven’t spoken to the owner since checking in, I asked for a taxi nicely where he refused to call one. He told us to go walk down the road and find one. The whole experience was a total nightmare that ruined our holiday, which no one should experience when they are on holiday.

Since there was a pandemic lockdown they gave me a really good deal on the price of the room for one month. 400 bhat a day. The location was preferable too. They have around 7-8 cats that are around the property at all times sometimes they would even come into my room and demand food and I didn't hesitate to give them. It's quite nice to have furry beings around when ur alone. Anyway, the stay was averagely mediocre..however the running water from the tap and shower smelled absolutely horrible and odd at all times like it was being drawn from a contaminated ground, they should look into it. The owner of the place was really nice and helpful. There were many staff members working there since they also have a running restaurant during the day time. Sometimes, I did get the sense that when I left the property, somebody snooped through my things because I realize that my things didn't remain the way the were since I left.

Stayed for two weeks at the Samui Diving resort. Rome are spacious and very clean. Had a very nice breakfast that was available everyday. Small hotel so you got to know all the other people here and the staff. The location was very convenient to many restaurants and the beach was just across the road. At night there was a lot of street vendors and a walking street on Friday. Only thing this hotel was missing was a pool! They even let us stay late in the hotel since our flight want until late. Recommend it!

Really lovely place set up especially for children. Across the road is the amazing fisherman’s village and a 7/11. The staff are all really friendly, the kids club is fab and they have an onsite nanny completely free! The rooms are beautifully decorated and the little kitchen is so handy with children. The lady who showed us around was really lovely as was her daughter. The grounds and pool were immaculate. The only slight downside was that the weekend we stayed the resort hosted two, possibly three birthday parties for no guests and this kind of took over the resort. Our younger daughter kept trying to get into the party for the doughnuts 😂 As we were leaving, the guy who also runs the place totally blanked us. Bit weird - but neither of these things would stop us returning!
Lanna Samui

Overall, Lanna Hotel is a nice place for long-term stays, especially considering the great deals they offer for monthly rates. It is situated in a quiet residential area, although there may not be many attractions or amenities in the immediate vicinity. However, it is conveniently located just a 10-minute drive away from Fisherman's Village or Chaweng, where there are more options for dining and entertainment. The rooms at Lanna Hotel provide good Wi-Fi connectivity and boast beautiful decor. The common areas are well-maintained, and the staff, especially the reception staff, are very nice and helpful. They assisted us a lot when we lost our credit card, and they were accommodating to our every request. However, during our month-long stay, we noticed a few drawbacks that we would like to point out in the hopes that they will consider them and make improvements. Smoking: Smoking is allowed in every corner of the hotel, which can be especially annoying when sitting in the restaurant and trying to eat while being exposed to smoke. When we asked the waitress to request that people not smoke in the restaurant, they refused to interfere. We suggest creating a designated smoking area that is far away from common areas. Restaurant: Prices - The restaurant prices are significantly high. A simple Pad Thai dish costs three to four times more than in a regular thai restaurant, and they add service charges and taxes. Every meal cost us about 800 bhat for 2. Dishes - The Mediterranean dishes at the restaurant are not good. Coming from a Mediterranean country, we can say that the taste of these dishes is not authentic. We tried a few times and gave up. Plastic - Please consider reducing the use of plastic straws. Guests can request a straw if needed, and it would be beneficial to use paper straws. It would contribute positively to the environment. Impractical design - The restaurant and gym at Lanna Hotel have beautifully designed glass ceilings, which are impractical in sunny and hot Thailand. It becomes uncomfortably hot to fully enjoy the restaurant or gym. Please consider finding a way to cover the ceiling. Additionally, having a restaurant without air conditioning in Thailand can be challenging. Internet: The internet quality in the common areas is not good. It was difficult to work outside the room due to the heat, and the Wi-Fi that was often faulty. Since there are many digital nomads staying here and fewer children, we suggest converting the kids' room into a co-working space with air conditioning and fiber Wi-Fi. Activities: We expected Lanna Hotel to offer more activities for long-term residents or digital nomads. However, they only provide early morning yoga sessions. Therefore, we feel that there is not much added value for digital nomads staying here. Other than these few drawbacks, Lanna Hotel is a charming place with modern conveniences. We reccomend to stay here if the price is compatible, as there are other, more well located hote

Chaweng Beach
As previously commented, the sound of the air-conditioning host was too loud, and I fell asleep very late. In addition to being near the road, the sound of the motorcycle was heard all night, and I didn't sleep well. There is no elevator, and luggage has to move many stairs. The main purpose of living here is to purchase items from Lotus Supermarket and serve as a transit point. The water is slow in the bath. Anyway, live by the sea and take a tutu for shopping.
