The reason I went to Italy for a very short 48 hrs, was to celebrate my friends' wedding party. The ceremony was at 5:00pm sharp. During transit, the owner of Hotel La Tinassara, Mr Giuseppe, has messaged me insisting that I should check in the room (never happened in my 40 years of travel that I should check in while I am in transit catching planes, buses and trains!). When I clicked on the link, it said that my room would have come to £235! (instead of £86 I had negotiated months ago on ***********). I kept saying to Giuseppe that I booked and pre-paid and he kept insisting that I was on the STANDARD rate, that there was no previous deal and that I am expected to pay at check out. I had updated my card details that morning because *********** said that they needed to take the payment. All of this has caused great stress, while I was going to a wedding. I thought I am going to have to get into an argument while I am in a hurry to get to the wedding and have been travelling since 6:00am! To add insult to injury, the hotel is advertised as very near the town centre. I have carted a heavy suitcase uphill, under a baking sun, to the middle of nowhere and to no avail. I passed a cemetery, a car park, a camping site and a main road, but no sign of La Tinassara and no directions or signage either. By this point it is already 17:15. The ceremony has started and I am drenched in sweat, stranded with no accommodation. I have had to stop somewhere and quickly browse the *********** page in the hope to find an alternative emergency accommodation, which, of course, I HAD TO PAY FOR. I have missed the entire ceremony! Between finding the new place, checking in and having a shower because I was drenched in sweat, I arrived at dinner time and all because of Mr Giuseppe of La Tinassara. I have requested cancellation free of charge. If anything, he owes me damages. Instead, the Hotel have gone and taken the full amount, claiming money from an account I never even authorised as the official payment method on ***********! They have taken the full 99.00 euros! BEWARE OF THESE CROOKS!!
