Best Hotels in Lillingstone Dayrell with Luffield Abbey

I stayed here for one night while attending a birthday party. It’s very convenient for the M1 and a quick getaway. I found the check in very simple and was asked to register my car which was done via screen. I was originally allocated a ground floor room which is my least favourite when travelling alone but this was swiftly changed to one on the first floor. My room was clean and fresh looking with tea and coffee facilities and a rail to hang my clothes and replete with removable/rehangable hangers. The TV worked, the towels were fluffy and white and the bathroom very clean and a good size. I had a very comfortable bed and a good nights sleep. I didn’t hear any noise/other guests. I can’t find any fault with my stay.I didn’t use any of the cafe/bar facilities. Note that there’s very little in the way of alternative restaurants etc in the immediate area.

It is located about ten minutes away from the station and about ten minutes away from the city center. The location is relatively quiet. The room is ok, the bathroom is a bit stained, and the shower facilities are not cold enough.

. Check in was ok but they didn’t inform me about the discount on parking if they validate your ticket on check out. Also check in and check out are not as stated on the website. UK.trip.com offered a brilliant discount but booking direct was over priced for this type of hotel Quite a spacious room but no fridge and no way to co Troy temperature. Very high beds and very, very soft pillows but beautiful linen and towels. Everything new and fresh. Really well situated for the theatre and nice walk very nearby.

Stayed here for 1 night (fri-sat) on the 23rd Feb. Reception staff were helpful with car park check in, and the booking in process was very easy, knowledgeable and quick. Key information was given regarding health and safety (fire exits etc) The reception area was clean and tidy as was the the rest of the communal areas on the way to the room. Upon arrive to the room, the room was warm, welcoming and inviting. Plenty of clean towels, the bedding was clean and fresh and the bathroom had been cleaned to a very high standard. I had requested something prior to arrival to be put in the room which the hotel staff had no problem in doing. A massive shout out to 2 very helpful members of staff in the housekeeping department that I believe helped with the request. I believe their names were ”steph” and ”charlene”. It's very clear the hotel is well looked after by staff and cleaned to a very high standard by the housekeeping staff. The reception is open 24 hours a day so you can go and come as you please. Check out was by 12 which is plenty of time to wake, shower etc before leaving. And whilst thinking about the shower......that is a very good shower system in the rooms. Hot, powerful and amazing water pressure!!! Always a win when visiting hotels. A very pleasant stay and would definitely stay here again in the future. Staff brilliant, rooms brilliant, location brilliant and very quiet considering that the M40 is so close and the services are next door. 10 stars all around!!!!

I booked this hotel as part of a package which included afternoon tea and tickets to Bletchley Park. This was meant to be a special treat for my husband's 60th birthday. I was impressed by the photo of the Deluxe Double room on their website. A couple of days before we went I gave my husband all the info, including the photo of the room which I was expecting. We set off on our almost 3 hour journey, excited for a luxury break. We arrived a little early for check in so decided to have our afternoon tea whilst waiting. The tea was lovely, very filling and the Laura Ashley tearoom was as beautiful as the pictures on their website. We checked in at the beautiful reception area, walked through the lounge area, saw the bar and restaurant on our way to our room, again beautifully presented, everything we expected from a luxury 4 star hotel. Sadly, that's where it stopped. We were first shown to room 104, our deluxe double. It was disgusting. Filthy carpet, thick black dust in front of the furniture, what appeared to be a large orange/yellow vomit stain on the carpet, stained and ripped soft furnishings. The bathroom was no better, broken toilet flush, rusty shower fittings, rusty light fitting, split and peeling woodwork and paint peeling off the walls. The deluxe double room was not what was shown on the website. We immediately asked to be moved. We were moved to the room next door. Again, this room was as filthy as the other, again cracked woodwork, peeling paint round the sink, a used cottonbud on the floor by the bin, the two 'leather' chairs that had fabric that was cracked and missng on the seats and arms and was only fit for the tip. The window seat waa stained and ripped and surfaces and carpet again thick with dust, and still didnt look like the room I booked. At this point I rang the agent we booked through. They spoke to someone at the hotel as the General Manager - Andrew - wasnt in. The staff member then came and said they were moving us again, to a ”Premier deluxe room” a free upgrade apparently and also offered us a free drink in the bar, which we declined. Hallelujah!! Spoke too soon. The premier bit presumably applied to the nespresso machine, the trouser press, and the canopy thing over the bed which wasnt present in the other rooms. However, on first look it did appear to be more acceptable and the bathroom was at least clean. The bed area was not great, the curtain/canopy thing over the bed was thick with dust, the hospitality tray was also thick with dust, the nesspresso machine was unusable due to its covering of thick dust. It was, sadly, tired and dirty and baring no resemblance to what we booked. The room wasnt serviced at all during our 2 night stay. By this time it was 6pm, we'd had a long journey and there was no other choice but to accept the room. The following day we spent at Bletchley Park which was amazing. We stayed with two young children and my husband, who is disabled. We booked a two room suite which was a lovely size, little night lights in the twin room (nice touch) lovely bath (with grab rails for my husband. Twin sink, nice toiletries and clean rooms with comfy beds. I'm a Hilton Honours member and am very impressed in general with the Double Tree offering from the company. Breakfast was fresh, great variety, friendly staff, was personality. Very aware of my husband's needs too. Highly commendable. Just a couple things. * We got all the way to the room and the digital key failed. I called reception who asked me to come and get a key, when I said I had a disabled partner and children I couldn't leave, was met with 'you have to come back to reception' lesson learnt. Don't bother with the digital key. Ever. * The hotel needs to invest in smaller high chairs for babies. It was huge, took up space and was a bit dirty. There are lots of local eateries nearby and shops too for your convenience. We would come back here again!

We stayed Friday for one night as we were visiting friends in nearby ****on Bec. We were warmly greeted by Julian and check-in was easy. Our accommodation is just across the car park and was more than adequate for our needs. We decided to have a drink before going out and there is a good selection of beers and wines, all reasonably priced. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting to Julian and learning about his sister's plans for The Narrow Boat. Obviously in January the weather isn't appropriate for sitting out in the garden overlooking the canal, but there is also another indoor restaurant that overlooks the terrace. We were more than happy sitting in the smaller restaurant/bar area particularly with the log-burning stove beside us! We had a look at the food menu which looked very nice and reasonably priced. Our breakfast on Saturday morning was delicious. My husband opted for the ”full works” which had a supplement, whilst I went for the standard one. Very nicely presented and the poached eggs were perfectly cooked. As other people have said, The Narrow Boat is on the A5 so you will experience some noise from the road but you get used to it. We look forward to coming back to stay again the next time we're in the area. Thanks to Julian and the chef for making us so welcome.

Stayed here on business for a week last week. Overall, rooms are well sized and clean with only a few signs of maintenance needed. On my first night I tried the in house restaurant. It was cold, deserted and smelt distinctly of frying in old oil (an aroma more suited to a fast food outlet). Just as I sat down, one of the few other customers collared a waitress to remind her he'd ordered 50 minutes ago. I made my excuses and left. Next evening, I returned to the hotel to find my room unserviced. On challenging this with Reception, they apologised and explained that I should have been asked on check in if I wished to have my room serviced (note to any management policy setters reading this: why would I not?? Surely that's SOP for an hotel). So I asked to be added to the service list. Returned to the room after my next business day to find the room one again unserviced. I visited reception (again) to be added to the list (again) but this time insisted that the room was serviced that night while I was out for dinner. Am back in the same hotel again this week. On check in yesterday, this time I asked for the room to be serviced daily. This week's room is again very reasonably sized and comfortable, no complaints there. BUT this evening I one again returned to an unserviced room. On challenging reception (second time in two weeks) I'm told that my name had not, after all, been added to the ”to do” list. Unlike last week, however, it would appear that Housekeeping has all gone home and nothing can be done. In fairness, a fresh set of towels was offered, but a set is already in the room. Let's be fair: this is not the Dorchester or the Ritz and so my expectations are set at a level befitting a reasonably modern, mid market chain hotel. So all I was looking for was cleanliness (tick), comfortable bed and room (tick) and normal room cleaning and servicing as a default setting (no ticks at all based on two weeks' experience). This surely deserves a rethink, Jurys. I remain distinctly unimpressed. You may also want to look at the lifts, at least one of which displays an alarming range of lateral movement at speed.
