Altis Avenida Hotel

Baixa Lisbon|0.52km from Casa Fernando Mauricio
I visited this place in march 2022 with my husband. The + of this hotel: - modern (I think they have redecorated it recently) - perfect situation (you are between Avenida da Liberdade with Restauradores square on one side and the Rossio square) and you have thus plenty of restaurants and shops right next to the hotel, as well as many places of interest to visit in the neighbourhood - a good restaurant at the top of the hotel with a great terrasse from where you can admire the city: the Rossio Gastrobar It is « tapas » kind and it was one of the best food we had during this 3 nights stay - a good breakfast offer in a room which is also situated on the roof top, on the other side of the gastrobar, though a little bit noisy when it is full - the rooms are correctly equipped and perfectly clean - though you are in an animated area, it is perfectly calm and quiet in the rooms The - now: - the bedrooms are very dark. We took one superior with balcony but still, all was black in this room and the view was…not what we expected, even if it was on a quite high floor. In fact most of them are facing their other hotel across the road. I bet you’d better take a suite to get an open view. - service is ok but very discreet (reception) or jaded (gastrobar). It was good at breakfast. Let me explain: I couldn’t get a reservation in any of the three restaurants I had asked for my last evening through the reception. I guess it saved me money :-) At Gastrobar, several waiters were acting as if they had not seen our signs, waiting for the only waitress that night to do it at their place (which she always did)

Lisbon Old Town
To be honest the moment we arrived to the street it is located we were far from amazed: it looked old, full of graffities and quite poor, but it turn out to be very safe, convenient (full of small food and hygine stores), next to the oldes tram line (one of the city attractions) and just a walk up to the historical part of Lisbon. The hotel itself is what you may expect: small but adequate rooms without air conditioning (truth to be told, the fan was more than enough even in August) and the shared bathrooms were way better than I thought, one per 2-3 rooms, big and very clean. Considering how fxxxx expensive the hotels in Lisbon are, this one is a good option.

We stayed at these apartments for 4 nights. The location was good, a short walk to the centre of everything. Apartment was small but had everything we needed. Be prepared for for a lot of steps up to the building. No luggage storage for before/after you check in/out.. bit of a walk to the other building with your cases but a cheap option to store them for a few hours. Our room wasn't cleaned one day so when we got back from a long day trip to Sintra we came back to no clean towels for our shower. We went into the main building where we used the phone provided to contact a member of staff, but were told over the phone that the cleaners were gone for the day. Then he hung up on us, we were on a camera so obviously he could see us as we tried 4 times to ring back but he wouldn't answer. I had to go outside and ring a different number from my mobile. Another man answered and told me where we could find towels but the instructions were hard to understand and he was laughing and making fun of us.. this really let the accommodation down for us. We were on the ground floor, so the door to our apartment was right on the street and quite loud at night. Good value for money and a good location, shame the staff let it down.

The host didn't email the door code to me and there was no one answering the doorbell for the first three times my friends and I tried when it's raining heavily outside that day. I called the owner and they said they would open the door but they didn't and I had to call another time so that they would actually give us the door code to get into the building. The environment around the stay is very dirty, the road is full with dog poops everyday since morning and it smells very bad. My belonging is missing in the apartment when I'm very sure that it was still in the bathroom before we left the room. I'm not sure if the cleaner broke it or something else, but I asked them and they say there's nothing they can do about it. I don't mind if they broke it i just want an explanation about why is it missing and they just ignored me, instead they just say they couldn't find the item. The cleaner cleans the room everyday, the room is clean and is a nice place to sleep overall.

Just back from a stay at this hotel this week ' They must be having a bad week as firstly the girl who checked us in found it extremely hard to be pleasant. She sighed a lot and not once did I see her smile. The roof top bar is impossible to get into. We tried for three nights and we never got past the barrier they have. The bar downstairs is lovely but the older man on duty could not cope with more than six people in the lounge however the younger lads were absolutely lovely . The bedrooms are clean as is the common areas of the hotel but definitely the rooms need updating. The walls are extremely thin , You could actually hear the people in the next room brushing their teeth. Breakfast was lovely and very attentive staff every morning. All in all there was no effort to welcome us into their hotel or the city of Lisbon. Don't appear to have any pride in either their hotel or city. There was totally no words of welcome in the hotel from anyone over our three day stay

I arrived at the Hotel Portugal on August 21, 2022 early in the in the morning for six nights and seven days. Staff was welcoming, professional and friendly. I had complimentary breakfasts during my stay and was able to have a nice breakfast at the hotel upon arrival. My room would be ready by mid-morning so after having a delicious meal, I took my first walk into Lisbon. I returned shortly after to settle in my 2nd floor room. I was given a really beautiful and quiet room (room 209) which was a good size, modern and classic room. The room and upscale bathroom had high ceilings, quiet air conditioning and a beautiful decor. The room was nicely designed and very comfortable with a large king size bed. It also had a flat screen television incorporated in a large circle mirror on one wall. The room had ample storage for hanging or putting clothes away in large wall cabinets. It was well thought out, fairly new, spacious and elegant. Room service was excellent and the room was made up during the afternoon. It was very comfortable and clean and it was a pleasure to return to it at the end of the day to relax and to have good night’s sleep. The buffet breakfast included with the room had a standard plate of fruit, cheese and thin slices of ham, plus a small delicious Portuguese tartlet. On top of that, you could order your choice of many things, including eggs, bacon and fruit yogurt. It was a complete and delicious breakfast that was served on the main floor in a nice dining area inside or on the beautiful and relaxing enclosed outside hotel terrace. The hotel was nicely and centrally situated with a short walk to major streets and squares like Rossio Square and Rua Augusta. From those areas, you had access to major points of interest in this beautiful and photogenic city. The city and surroundings are truly amazing, the people nice and friendly and the views are spectacular. Getting arround is easy just walking or taking a cable car or train. The hotel also offered access to a nearby roof top bar and terrace which was really perfect at the end of the day to relax, cool off and admire the views of the city. Finally, the entire hotel staff was professional, really helpful with advice on visiting Lisbon, gave other useful travel information and always got you a nice table for breakfast on the terrace. Everyone was just so kind and friendly. It made all the difference in my stay at Hotel Portugal. I want to especially thank Cristiana at the front desk and Dulce at the breakfast restaurant for their great service, attention and overall kindness. The hotel entrance was also welcoming with a friendly and helpful door man who always had a nice greeting and gave good advice and service. The stay went by quickly as the city of Lisbon and nearby coast, mountains and beaches are just incredible. I took 1000 memorable pictures during this great trip. Again, the staff was awesome. This city boutique hotel gets great reviews and I can understand why.
