The Standard London

King's Cross St. Pancras London|0.86km from Charles Dickens Museum
Just finished a four night stay at the Standard Hotel in London. This is my first trip back to London post Covid and wanted to find the latest and greatest and the Standard has raised the bar in the hotel and hot spot scene. I put the concierge team to the test as I always do and Istvan and his team did not disappoint. I sent a very detailed request of things I wanted to and places I wanted to go before I arrived. Upon arrival I was happy to accept a room upgrade from George at the front desk and he was quite helpful showing me around and we struck up a conversation about football. Upon entering my room I saw it had a massive terrace with beautiful teak furniture over looking the city center. The room was stylish and chic and cutting edge and even a bit “quirky” as the brand is known for. The restaurant on the first floor Isla, is as cool as you can imagine. The lobby flows into the restaurant with outdoor seating that is heated with a gas fireplace which is a nice touch. The service and food were spot on and the lobby feels like a home as it is filled with books, dj booth and the cool London locals as well as the jet set crowd. I went to see Istvan at the concierge desk who was put to the task of getting tickets for a few soccer/football matches for me. I was floored by the front row tickets he gave me. He sorted out trains, boats, cable cars and restaurants. I can’t imagine better service could be had. Saving the best for last, Decimo on the 10th floor is the place to be and people watch. The mix of music and food was the cool vibe that everyone tries to imitate but never does. The hotel is directly across the street from St. Pancras station and Kings Cross. International, or national rail lines as well as the tube/subway. There is not a better location in London as it literally is the heart beat of the city. Nice to see a hotel living up to the hype. Actually, they surpass it.

Very satisfied with a hotel, worthy of this price. When I made a mistake at the time of booking, I saw that the room information showed that the facilities for the disabled were provided, and I didn’t think about it. I found that it was a special room for the disabled. It was really embarrassing. . . Before the check-in, the hotel contacted me via Ctrip and asked me about my check-in time. My answer may arrive at noon, which will be far earlier than the hotel's check-in time. The reply will be arranged according to the situation on the day. On the day of the check-in, we arrived at the hotel around 11:00 and they were all ready. Thank you very much! The hotel was originally remodeled by the bank and opened only last year, new and atmospheric. There are seven or eight restaurants in the hotel lobby, and the taste is comprehensive. Geographically, it is located in the downtown area, walking close to the hotels around the Thames, and next to the subway station. The decor of the room is completely classic British style, the details are carefully polished, very special and very like. There are no less than 20 kinds of bath products, which is extremely luxurious. I saw a comment on the book saying that the sound of the music downstairs was noisy, but the actual experience was completely unrecognizable. The sound insulation of the window was well done. The sound of the door next door was noisy. This may be the only fly in the ointment.

This was the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced. I have always trusted Premier Inn and stay very regularly; you come to expect a certain standard of cleanliness, safety and service with the brand. On arrival, I noticed mould around the window and a damp smell in the room. (Photos show the mould). It was awful. I went straight to reception but they couldn’t do anything as the hotel was full. I was offered a free breakfast as compensation but I felt the issue could not be solved with a free breakfast and didn’t want them to think that was sufficient recompense. I had also made other plans for breakfast. The receptionist said we could move rooms the following day but we would have to pack our bags first thing and leave them in reception. As we had valuables and electronics, I didn’t want to do this either, as we were out for the whole day and evening. The photo attached shows how bags are stored in the reception area so you can see why I chose not to take this option. Bags were left on show and in view of the street outside with open access through the main doors. No staff were on reception or in the lobby on a very regular basis during our stay so bags are simply left unattended and not securely stored. I complained via the website on my return and was given a £63 refund against a total cost of £265. To me, this is unacceptable and in no way reflects the level of discomfort and uncleanliness we encountered. It completely spoilt our stay. I will never stay in a Premier Inn again.

Reception staff were wonderful and allowed us in early, also they were extremely helpful. Location was great, plenty of shops available in a 1k walk. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment which was fine and suited us, only issue was the bed in the room without the ensuite was very uncomfortable, it was two singles pushed together with pillow top underlays which didn’t fit very well. Other than that we were very happy with the apartment.

The conditions are particularly bad, except that the location is nothing, it is recommended to rent a foreign Hilton hotel, the quality can be guaranteed. The hotel room was small and collapsed, and the house was sunken in the ground floor. Although both sides were floor-to-ceiling windows, the privacy was not guaranteed, and the curtains entering the house did not dare to stay. The sanitation of the hotel was very poor. The updated bath towel was taken out from the open bag on the floor below and placed in the room. One day, a spider was shaken and climbed out. Book a well-known hotel chain, don't order this, this is a private house renovation hotel, you can't see this hotel on the road, there is no lobby, go in and go to a dwelling. I feel that Ctrip is too unprofessional. Can this kind of residential accommodation be called a hotel? The new bath towels are used for the guests, not those who are dirty, feel it, it won't be raining.

It's a dorm, so you can wash it cheaply. It was nice to feel like a London student. It was the only European accommodation with a refrigerator. There was no air conditioning again. I don't clean it every day, I don't change my towel. No individual bathroom, no toilet There was no inconvenience because there was a female shower room. It was a holiday, so it was not crowded, and I always took a shower alone. There was a washbasin and mirror in the room, so it was good to wipe or wash your teeth. There is no air conditioner, but anyway, I come out early and go late. It wasn't very hot, but I had a few days of heat. I think it's heating. I think it would be better to come in spring and autumn winter instead of summer. The location is close to the station Russell? It's very close to the square, so the bus goes well.
