If you want to explore the tulou in a more relaxed way, I would recommend booking at least one night in the area. We went for the boutique experience at Du Lv hotel, a beautifully remodeled tulou near Yongding. We were 100% satisfied with the gorgeous and refined accommodation and the wonderful hospitality. With only 6 rooms available, the hotel never feels crowded or noisy so we were able to have a good rest. There is also a lot of common areas within the facilities where you can sit to read or enjoy a cup of tea. Our loft room was comfortable with all the necessary amenities. A very Instagram worthy Chinese breakfast is included in the price of the room and served at another location (remodeled by the same owner) nearby. A special thank you to Kayla who speaks good English and helped us organize transportation from/ to Xiamen and the tulou clusters in the area. We had our evening meals at the only restaurant in the village and the food was fresh, the service was friendly and the price was reasonable. The tulou that you can visit in the village feel very authentic and most of them are still inhabited so you can really understand how people live. During our stay, we visited those tulou and Chuxi cluster that I would recommend because it is more picturesque and not as touristy as Tianluokeng.

This hotel is located in a very friendly, small village. We stayed three nights and freely walked the village and the Tulous often being stopped by curious villagers to ask us where we are from. It’s clear foreigners are few and far between in this village but everyone was very welcoming. We have no complaints about the cleanliness, location or breakfast. The rooms and hotel itself are beautiful. If you are a light sleeper (like my friend) the babies crying in the next room or the child and father laughing and chatting in the other room till gone midnight might bother you. If you’re a deep sleeper like me, you’ll be fine! The hotel staff didn’t really offer much information to us initially. You’re kind of left to it. But when I added them to wechat they did answer questions we had and they cleaned the room when asked. For future reference here’s some information for foreigners who make make the journey. We found two good restaurants in the village and there are small shops with basic necessities. You can arrange a car to take you to different Tulous driving distance away or you could just walk through the village and into neighbouring villages exploring the more authentic Tulous. To be honest, the “tourist” Tulous weren’t of much interest and didn’t take a single photo. The more authentic, natural, “left to their own devices” ones were much more appealing to us. You can’t get the typical shot from a hilltop of a small group of round Tulous here in this village but you can get so much more of an authentic small, relaxing, quiet village experience at your own pace. We had a driver from Xiamen airport - 3.5 hours there because he didn’t take the highway but the provincial road. On the way back to the airport we came via the highway and it was 2 hours. It’s quite far away but we think it’s very worth it if you go prepared. We would definitely stay in this hotel again. We booked this hotel, therefore the location based on the look of comfort and the fact we wanted traditional, with modern amenities so we could relax as well as explore. It ticked all those boxes.

Three years ago, I started to travel by car. Generally, I would choose a better hotel, but the location of the Tulou Scenic Area is too remote. I chose a newly opened homestay in the scenic area. This choice made me experience surprises and surprises at the same time. A certain navigation let me drive to a dark hillside on a rainy night, unexpectedly happened when I was reversing, the rear wheel stuck in the drain, looking around the silent night, a sense of helplessness poured into my heart. With the idea of trying it out, I called the owner of the hotel. After simple communication, I quickly rushed over. I was still a female boss. At first glance, the situation was complicated, so I quickly greeted experienced friends to help. It was an accident that turned into a surprise trip. After the rescue was successful, the boss took me back to this homestay called Tianyijia. The cleanliness and tidyness were completely beyond my old impression of ordinary homestays. The female boss is hearty and generous, and our gratitude is really unspeakable for helping people and helping people to help them. I have to say thank you here. You can look at my photos, whether it is the room or the lobby, which are spotless, and only far beyond the standards of some large hotels in terms of hygiene. The local specialties of the food are quite authentic, and the ingredients are also very fresh, the dishes are large and clean. The family is really real, it really makes people feel the warmth of a long-lost time. I hope the boss's business is getting better and better, and the kind people deserve better returns.

It's not an easy place to reach if, like us, you are a family of 6 with a baby and a lorry load of luggage. We arrived by high speed train at Nanjing (Fujian) and found a taxi to take us to the hotel (one way ¥260, negotiated from ¥300). The journey was around 2 hours on winding and slow roads (on the way back we took the high speed motorway which reduced the journey time to around an hour). The hotel is in a rural location off the main tourist areas. We arrived later than expected but we were able to get dinner. The food is exceptional. The chicken in particular is delicious. We booked a family room with a slide. Our children would of happily spent the entire stay in the room playing on the slide. I've stayed in many 5 star branded hotels and yet this guesthouse has so many little extras, gadgets and technology than most. The password keypad door handle is perhaps the most over complicated means of opening a door, but I applaud the dedication to style and design. The toilet has a Japanese style multifunction thing going on. It took me a long time to figure out how to flush it. The toilet seat lifts when you open the door! The TV is a large projection on the wall. Not being Chinese I struggled to figure how to get regular TV channels. Everything I found required pay to view. It was a nice and clear projection however, and if able to understand the programming it would be amazing. We enjoyed 2 days touring various Tulou's. There are many within a short drive, though behind the hotel there is a small village with Tulou and earth buildings that make for a lovely walk. Overall, a great guesthouse with trendy vibes and family friendly facilities. Very comfortable stay.

Although in the scenic area, tickets are theoretically required, but when we arrived at 9 o'clock in the evening, there was no one checking the tickets at all, so we drove in directly. When I left the scenic spot the next day, I drove out directly. Therefore, if you just stay and look at the exterior, you should not need to buy a ticket. However, if you come out to play, since you are here, you still have to go to Zhencheng Building to have a look. It is really good, and you need to check the ticket to enter this building. Due to time reasons, I didn't go to see Louwang, nor did I go to Huanjilou. But there shouldn't be much difference, the core things are the same. The hotel itself is definitely the best one in the scenic area, and the environment has nothing to say. In terms of cost performance, it is not too high. If you are sensitive to price, don't choose it, otherwise you will definitely not be satisfied. Those who like this kind of feeling will not care about the price. There are other low-cost homestays that live in earthen buildings, but the comfort is very poor, it depends on how you choose. The lighting on the exterior wall of the hotel is a bit dim, and there is a parking lot in front, so it is not easy to see at first sight at night. At the end of the navigation, you can go directly to the villager parking lot, and you can stand on the side of the road if there are too many cars. Duplex rooms, each floor has a door to go to the outside corridor to see the yard scenery. The facilities are fairly new. The breakfast is simple, but practical, and the taste is not bad. There is a feeling of being at home. The service attitude cannot be compared with four-star and five-star hotels, nor can it be compared with many homestays in Lijiang. However, if you don’t have high expectations, you will think that the service here is actually not bad. In fact, the enthusiasm is not enough. The store should go to other homestays to learn more. can be better

This is really a beautiful earth building homestay with a collection of scripts* + live performances + light shows + fireworks shows... Because this hotel is newly opened, there are not many reviews yet, and most of the accommodation in Tulou is very simple and even the bathroom is not worthy of a quilt, while the high-quality homestays can easily go up by two or three thousand during the National Day, so when I found this homestay With a mentality of taking a gamble, I didn't expect to be amazed from the moment I checked in! Whether it is geographical location, play experience, service attitude of hotel staff or hardware facilities, it can be said that it has achieved the ultimate in an ancient earthen building. The hotel's performance and choreography are said to be jointly authorized by the Tianya Mingyue Sword mobile game. During the stage play, guests can sit in the venue and participate in the interaction. Adults and children can change into ancient costumes, become a member of the four sects, and participate in small games. The most famous sect will go to the moon platform to watch the fireworks show. The entire interaction setting can be said to be very attentive. The big moon installation on the roof is really beautiful at night. After late at night, the entire inner courtyard of the earth building is quietly sprinkled with quiet lights, which makes people feel refreshed. In terms of hardware, I have to mention that there are two elevators in the earth building. One is a transparent sightseeing elevator next to the big moon, and the other is hidden in one of the wooden doors. In addition, the wooden ladder of the earth building itself is kept. While destroying the characteristics of the tulou, it incorporates modern convenience and fashion sense. The interior is even more satisfying. The rooms in the previous earth building were very small, but after being combined into one, the current guest room has more than 30 rooms in four floors. Each room is equipped with Wrigley's smart toilet, lighting mirror, nut projection, adjustable central air-conditioning, various tea sets, modern Chinese mahogany furniture, simple but not simple. The shampoo and conditioner is equipped with L'Occitane. Today, many five-star hotels have reduced the allocation, which is really hard work. Lying on the bed with my son at night, I replayed ”Big Fish and Begonia”. I didn't expect that one day I would sleep in an earthen building and watch this movie, and I feel very moved when I think about it. In the old environment of the Tulou, it is possible to carry out such renovations, and the price is reasonable. It opened before the 11th of this year, and the price of the National Day is still at more than 1,000 points. Compared with other high-end Tulou homestays, it is more cost-effective. It is much higher, not to mention the various experiences such as performances here. Performances are only available on holidays, including weekends, and will be performed on the next day during winter and summer vacations. You can ask in advance and check in before the price increases!

The decoration started at 7 o'clock in the morning was a bit noisy, the hotel was not cost-effective and the breakfast was a bit too bad, not enough food can not be added, several pickles. . . However, the shop manager Xiaoding, a big boy from Beijing, was very nice, and he solved the problems quickly for me. He also personally gave my children to swim for breath. The service of the shop manager is very good. Other staff need to be improved, and the facilities cannot keep up.

We planned to spend one night at the Lotus Land but we ended up spending 3 nights instead. The hotel is very well located, very clean and the staff was great! We had so many cloths to be washed and once asked the girl from reception some help, she took us to their laundry room and helped us out washing our cloths without any extra fee. I strongly suggest you to stay at this hotel if u plan to visit the Tulou cluster in Fujian.

I am very satisfied with the decoration and room size, the breakfast is also good, the transportation is convenient and the environment is very good, the service is very warm, the hygiene is very clean, it is worth recommending, and I will stay there next time.

The boss is enthusiastic, has good cooking skills, and has great food. The room in the second row was very quiet. Clean and hygienic. The best mattress is hard enough and suitable for me. A few minutes walk to Tulou Prince Scenic Area. Tulouwang Scenic Area is a few minutes’ drive away, and Chuxi Tulou is a 30-minute drive away. Chuxi is very nice. It has no commercial look. It’s free to go upstairs. You can also go up to the middle of the mountain to see the panoramic view. You can play with the earth buildings in a very three-dimensional way.
