Travelled in June as a couple for a long weekend in Madrid prior to an important business meeting. Arrived Friday morning and all was well, it went downhill from there. Services - not up to a five star city hotel at this price range. I’ve been using Marriot a lot recently because despite the properties often not having the local charm things just tend to work well. Not here and no longer will I be using Marriot. Firstly, this was expensive, paying luxury 5* money. On the Saturday morning we out in some dry cleaning and heard nothing. On Sunday, when we phoned them we were told ‘by the way we haven’t done anything with your dry cleaning because we can’t do it on the weekend and would have to wait for Monday’. At this price range not being able to arrange dry cleaning over a weekend in unacceptable. Not proactively messaging me about it so that I could find an alternative is worse. On top of that nothing else was good. The bed was too hard, the bathroom was tiny, the pillows were cheap and uncomfortable, the cocktails and canapés we had in the lobby bar were poor. Overall we were just constantly disappointed. A shame.
