Our experience with Sunset Reef Resort & Spa was... neutral, to say the least. I'll start with the good. The food was excellent. We were there for two night and three days, and on both mornings, we received really good breakfast food. Toast, eggs, sausages, fries, pastries, fresh fruit and more. On night 1, we had an Indian-style open buffet (which was DELICIOUS) and on night 2, we had a smaller buffet, consisting of rice, pasta, chicken, fish and salad. Just as good. Our second good point was the staff. Special shout-out to Mr. Manoj of the front desk, who was really kind and helpful, as well as the rest of the staff who made our stay as comfortable as possible. It might be a weird thing to mention, but the bathroom was really nice. Fully equipped and clean. Supplied with multiple towels and no shortage of toilet paper and soap. It also had a handheld hose for the toilet and a bathtub. Now onto the negatives. The rooms were subpar. Only a single room with the minimum amount of furniture. Just bed, a cabinet, a wardrobe and two nightstands. It lacked a kitchenette; only had a tiny minifridge (that wasn't really cold). No sink, no silverware, no table. Also, no couch. We had an outdoor patio with chairs and a small table, but it was infested with ants. Scratch that, the entire hotel was infested with ants. The rooms, the bathrooms, the pool area, the reception. Huge black ants everywhere. Dunno if it was because we were so close to the beach, but it was really uncomfortable. I'm not done with the rooms. In addition to being barely furnished, they were also not well equipped. We had to ask for chairs and clothes hangers. The TV was defective, the safe was defective (they fixed it) and the hairdryer was defective. In conclusion... While the food was good and the staff was great, the rooms were average at best. Insects everywhere and not really clean. We enjoyed our stay there, but we're not likely to return. Three out of five.
