This is an incredible place- quiet and isolated away from the busyness of everything else. The rooms are all unique and well cared for. Excellent housekeeping staff and very helpful reception. This is the place to relax! Restaurant is excellent for gourmet dinner and great for breakfast and lunch. We ha e stayed in many, many places in Europe and this one is in the top 2-3. Just great!

This was our 6th stay at the Chateau de Mercues, the last being in 2022. This time was much improved from the previous which was still recovering from the pandemic. We have had Room 7 five times and this time Room 6 which was even more luxurious - both overlooking the weir. The chateau itself is beautiful but we noticed that the grounds are not kept as well as our first stay in 2016. The herb garden has gone and it is 'kept' without being beautifully kept. The Chateau itself is immaculate and the Bar and Restaurant areas lovely. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We stayed for four nights this time. The first night we had a meal in Le Dueze. We think it is overpriced and the portions are minute - also very expensive for the petit option - Euros 150 each. It is not to our taste but it is the only option available when Le Bistro is closed. We had one night with a platter on the terrace which was lovely but only because Le Dueze was full and I asked in advance of our stay to have that. On previous occasions, platters were available in the rooms but I felt I had to push for it. The Bistro was excellent on both nights - much more to our taste and on the second night the chef offered to do us something different which was kind so we didn't have to have the same food two nights running. We felt this time the staff were more helpful and trying harder. The only gripe we had with our room - which we also had with our previous room is that the plumbing is very bad in the sinks which drain very, very slowly. Only the sinks, the rest of the plumbing is fine so I wonder if they need some attention. Overall, a beautiful place and a most relaxing stay.

Most expensive Hotel on our monrh long cycle trip through France, but yet again C&R lived up to our expectations. Don't think many guests struggle up the hill to the Hotel, but our sweaty demeanour didnt detract from a warm welcome. Felt like staying in a real Chateau but fortunately room had all modern features, it was also cool, quiet and dark at night. Very good breakfast and a very nice pool tucked away beyond the wonderful trees. Staff superb throughout. Worth it for a special treat/occasion

Lovely experience to celebrate my husband's birthday. The ambiance in the chateau is traditional with low-keyed elegance and some surprising playful modernity. Our "superior" room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. The site is especially attractive with a marvelous overview of the Lot and vineyards. The gardens are well maintained. Delightful sculptures add a playful touch. Despite excessive rain in May, fragrant roses were blooming. The Olympic pool is well-situated as is the clay tennis court. We much enjoyed the wine-tasting experience of four cuvees of excellent and unique Cahors wine. Our dinner was excellent. The menu provided a variety of choices. The cuisine was "just right" - a bit traditional, but also "modern" but without being "over-fussed." The service was very professional but not "stuffy." One young server in particular (Theo) was like sunshine on a cloudy day --which, alas, it was.

Best ever stopover in France. We travel many time to and from UK to Italy and Spain. We will definitely revisit this property and hope to spend a longer time enjoying it.

Stayed here a number of times over the years; we remember it with affection. It's become "trés cher" and the restaurant is dominated by the chef's experiments with strange variations on classic cuisine. Not to our liking and dramatically different than our enjoyment of the multi-course menu at Chat. de Riell earlier in the trip. Also, the sommelier brought us a downscale white wine insufficiently chilled and seemed curiously reluctant to ice it. It was early in the season, but the grounds seemed neglected. And a very nice woman who helped us with our bags needs to bathe more often, sorry to say.

As fairly regular visitors to the chateau, we booked a St Valentine's stay at the Chateau. As usual, we enjoyed our stay enormously. The rooms are superb and the welcome 1st class. However, the experience was marred by a wailing child in the restaurant, and a lengthy delay between 2 courses. The main womplaint was the persistant crying and wailing of a small child in the restaurant, for almost an entire hour. In a restaurant where you are paying in excess of 500 € for your meal, (with drinks), I would expect that the staff would ensure that a certain ambiance is maintained, and if someone (in this case a baby), is making excessive noise, then they are asked to leave the restaurant so that the other diners may continue in the sort of environment that they had expected. The second point was the excessive delay between our Sea Bass course and the Pigeon - it was certainly over 45 minutes probably in excess of 50 minutes. I am guessing that the kitchen staff were allowing those diners who arrived at 21.00 to catch up with those who commenced at 19.30 (which included ourselves). Once again, when you are paying in excess of 500 € for your meal, I would expect that the service to be steady and not subject to such lengthy delays. What should have been a superb visit spoiled by these 2 points.
