La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham South Bend Near Notre Dame

Newer hotel. Clean. Lots of nearby food options. I did on line check in but that really did not speed up check in. Coffee machine was out of order for breakfast-that was the only bummer!

Newly constructed hotel so everything is very nice and new. My only real complaint staying here was having to pay a deposit that cost double the price of the room itself. So if you think you're booked for $70, be prepared to fork over $220. It's ridiculous especially when only staying less than 24 hours. Fortunately the check in lady allowed me to pay deposit in cash so I could retrieve in the morning instead of giving them an interest free loan for 1-2 weeks. We stayed on the 2nd floor. Room was very nice, spacious and comfortable. They could pay more attention to vacuuming the hallways. The TV is HD and good quality. Just wish it had Netflix built in as there's not many channels.

Room was nice. Bed was a little too hard but nice. Room seemed clean. But there was no shampoo in the shower. Early checkout time at 11:00am. Late night check in staff person was not rude, not overly nice either but fine. There was no one at the desk at check out. A pile of room keys building up.

24 hour front desk, nice breakfast and dining space, clean and comfortable room. Convenient location and great price for a quick one night stay for an athletic event at Notre Dame.

The front desk staff didn’t inform me there was $150 hold plus cost of room, I just happen to see the charges on my card. The room had small hair in the bathroom, on the sink and shower. That tells me the room wasn’t properly cleaned.

When we arrived they didn't have a clean room so they asked us to come back in an hour. When we arrived back in an hour they checked to see if our room was clean yet and it wasn't. They said they would put us in a different room. I asked what time the pool closed and was advised it was closed. I had called before to confirm it was open and was advised it was open. When I arrived to the room there was a hair on the toilet. I was going to call front desk to tell them about the hair when the phone range in my room. Front desk asked me to come back to the receptionist and said they needed to scan my CCD again because it didn't go through. I complained about the hair on the toilet and called my VISA company and they confirmed the charge went through. I ended up leaving and not staying after the bad experiences and will not be back.

We were very satisfied with the quality and value of our stay. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and even cheerfully decorated for the holidays. We used the small indoor pool, enjoyed the breakfast, and would stay here again.

This is a gem of a hotel. The property is attractive and well-maintained but the cost is very reasonable. I stayed here twice while traveling home for Christmas. The staff honored my requests for a quiet room. The rooms were both attractive with exceptionally comfortable beds. They have refrigerators and microwaves, making it possible for me to bring the food I need for my special diet. I didn’t try breakfast, but I think I could have found enough to eat. The bathroom mirrors had a soft, diffuse light that was really flattering. I appreciated the countertop with plenty of room for toiletries. They provide a comfortable desk and two chairs for sitting. There was also a black out curtain in my second room, although not in my first. Because you can see into the rooms from outside, that should be fixed. The only other downsides I found were that the showers don’t have a shelf to place items. I had to put things on the floor outside the door. But they do provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The shower floor looked stained but clean. Also, the heater filter looked like it had never been cleaned. I’ve never seen one so dirty. But overall, a shoutout to Sam, the person who cleans and makes up the rooms. Everything else was great. The neighborhood was not the greatest, but I never felt unsafe. The hotel is on a busy street but there’s a light accessible for left turns, which is really handy. If I need an overnight stay in South Bend again, this will be my first choice.
