I understand that accommodation during Oktoberfest can be very expensive. I booked my room three months in advance because I needed to apply for a visa, and I didn't notice that the cancellation period was until August 30th. My check-in dates were September 28th-30th. To my surprise, the price dropped by almost 500 RMB when I checked in. I ended up complaining to Ctrip, and thankfully, they compensated me. This is why I've trusted Ctrip for 20 years.
The hotel's location is quite remote, situated in a transportation dead end. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the nearest supermarket or subway station. Parking is also difficult, though you might find free parking spots at the intersection 20-30 meters before the hotel, if you're lucky.
The breakfast at the niu hotels is generally good, better than Holiday Inn Express, both in terms of variety and quality.
It's best to avoid rooms on the top floor of this hotel. Since it's a converted building, the air conditioning units are on the roof, and the noise is very bothersome.
The Holiday Inn Munich City Centre is a popular hotel for local tourists. It has a lot of rooms, and it's super convenient because you can walk directly from the subway station to the hotel through an underground passage, as long as you take the correct exit. This means you don't have to brave the cold outside. The rooms are a typical European size, and the cleanliness is good. The hotel lobby has various facilities, though the convenience store is a bit pricey. However, just outside the hotel's underground passage, you'll find various supermarkets that have everything you could need, which is really handy.
Stayed 7 nights. Business hotel type. Expect minimum service. Full of people in breakfast room everyday. (One staff was particularly rude. One time, she scolded me for bringing the water bottle to my table because my hands were full and was not capable of pouring water.) There was once breakfast was out of order and was diverted to another one. The order was chaotic. No staff to manage the situation. I also had a day with only half housekeeping work. Hotel acknowledged it was their fault but with no immediate action taken until the next day because housekeeping was already gone. There was also fire alarm event happened during my stay while having breakfast. Everyone of us had to go outside until confirmed safety by professionals. Turned out it was due to someone smoking.
Misc:
1. Bathtub water draining stopper always stopping
2. A/C not working. Staff said it will only on from June.
Facilities: There's a gym and meeting rooms. It would be even better if there was a microwave in the room, but the front desk can help heat things up for you.
Environment: Good. There's a supermarket within walking distance, which is great.
Service: The front desk staff were excellent. As a member, I was able to check in early, and they even offered lemon water.
I had the suite room. Comes stocked with one time juice, beer, and soda. Every day you get water and coffee replenished. Sofa bed was comfy as was the double bed. Balcony was relaxing. Ask for a change of towels or room cleaning preferably the night before or when you leave in the morning on your excursion so that your room will be how you want ot when you return to it.
Steps to Bus stop , less than 10 mins walk to subway. Only thing to complain is that the quilt is too heavy and small. Ask for blanket instead, they don't have. Asked for bed sheets to use as the blanket, but they took away the next day.
