Novotel Okinawa Naha

I booked two separate reservations for a two-day stay! Please refer to my previous review for more details.😅 This hotel is a bit of a distance from the station, so it's best to have a car! Okinawa's weather is unpredictable; it's great for walking around when it's nice, but very inconvenient if it's raining or windy!

This stay was a truly disappointing experience. The hotel, without verifying the facts, accused us of damaging a corner of the room and sent a notice to our room stating 'compensation may be required.' The damage to this corner was already present when we checked in, yet they claimed it occurred during our stay. No one ever came to explain or verify the situation with us in person. Our family had been out enjoying the day, in great spirits, only to return to such a notice. We were genuinely shocked, felt deeply wronged, and very uncomfortable. Imagine, who wants to deal with such baseless accusations while on vacation? What’s even more perplexing is the issue with the extra bed. The room was originally designed for four people, with a pull-out bed under the main bed. We were told we’d be charged extra for using it, even though, based on our actual sleeping needs and intended use, we reasonably utilized the existing bedding facilities within the room. Without prior notification or clear indication of related costs, we were later treated as if we had 'used an extra bed' and might incur additional charges. We find this completely incomprehensible and unreasonable. Most astonishingly, there was no follow-up explanation or proactive communication about any of this. In the end, we had to go to the front desk ourselves to confirm, only to be told that no compensation was required, nor any extra charge for the pull-out bed. If that’s the case, why send that notice in the first place? It only makes guests feel suspected, wronged, and results in a terrible experience. Because of that notice, our last day of the trip in Japan was completely ruined, and our previously wonderful memories were shattered. The hotel’s handling of the situation was careless and opaque, making us feel completely disrespected. Honestly, this hotel's approach is truly unreliable and falls far short of expected hotel service standards. We will not consider staying here again, nor would we recommend it to other travelers.

The soundproofing is terrible, and the room is tiny with an incredibly uncomfortable bed and pillows. I didn't get any sleep all night. Both the mattress and pillows are awful. I could hear people talking in the next room early in the morning and also the sounds of housekeeping from the floor. The soundproofing is just extremely poor. I strongly do not recommend this place.

The Executive Room is truly great, I'll definitely be back next time! So many perks: afternoon tea, cocktails, lots of food, draft beer, sparkling wine – a must-try for anyone who enjoys a good drink! Highly recommended.
