Don't let their website fool you! Extended Stay America promotes itself as a home away from home, but that was not my experience. My family and I stayed here for seven days during a move while we were waiting for our new home to be ready, and our expectations were that we would reasonably be able to go about business as usual. The accomodations advertised were spacious rooms, a fully-equipped kitchenette with a stove, microwave, coffee maker, and refrigerator, and all the other necessities like plates and silverware. While the rooms (a suite and a studio) were somewhat comfortable, we had to buy our own coffee maker because there was a waiting list to get one. After buying groceries for the week, we found out that our fridge was broken. They replaced it as soon as we told them, but we'd already lost most of our refrigerated groceries. And it wasn't long before we found out that the fridge in the other room was broken too. In addition, we had to ask for the utensils and plates that were advertised as amenities, most of which they did not have, so we had to buy paper plates, utensils, and cups. Everything was scarce. By the Wednesday of our stay, we ran out of toilet paper in our room and found that the hotel was also out of toilet paper. They wouldn't get a truck until the next day. I'm not sure how this jibes with the Americans with Disabilities Act, but there is no elevator except for an unsheltered wheel chair elevator just outside the front door. There's a spiral staircase leading to the third floor that I'm sure the elderly would struggle with. While every staff member I spoke to was nice, they seemed exasperated ever time we asked for something that should have already been available to us in our room. Not one of them wore their masks consistently or correctly, so I can't imagine they're doing much to discourage the spread of Covid-19. I can definitely say that should I ever be in this position again, Extended Stay America will not be on my list of options. $1,180 is far too high a price to pay for such a poor experience when I can book an Airbnb with more amenities for far less.
