I stay at a lot of places like this at this price point from Cape Cod to the Canadian border therefore it's tough for me to complain. There are only three things I desire from a motor lodge: a level clean bed, a non-sticky floor and ample hot water for the shower. The Econolodge failed to deliver on the third criteria. The water wasn't cold but it never got hot. It was just a quarter-inch turn of the spigot short of a satisfactory bathing experience and in all my travels, this was the first time I have encountered consistent tepid water in the shower. This was no malfunction, you will not get hot water from these people. The hospitality industry weeps. Water down the coffee, skip the danish and corn flakes just don't go cheap on the hot water.
While I'm at it, the fan in the heater unit also managed to be loud enough to drown out the TV but that was ok because you couldn't even get a movie channel anyway, just old sitcoms and local news. That was also a first. Usually you can get one movie channel even at the most frugal places.
It's not a bad place, they just won't allow themselves to be good.
