I love this little boutique hotel. The staff are truly the best - friendly and accommodating. The premises are showing some signs of age but very clean and comfortable. I love the cafe as well - I wish there were some more menu options but what they have is very good. I didn't have a car so parking was not an issue but I do hear that it's limited around the hotel, which sits on a quiet street near the river, about a 15-20 minute walk from Oxford city centre. I've stayed here before and happily will again. (Note that this property is one of many businesses that has gone completely cashless - I don't like not having a cash option but the UK seems to be adopting it at a fast pace)

My first experience highlighted the incompetent service. I booked an executive room and was told 6 months later that they had listed it at the wrong price. After confirming the new price, it was clearly confirmed on ***********. The hotel clearly ignore these confirmations because they downgraded me to a classic, but left *********** to charge me the higher price. Hotel not interested, everyone else’s fault. No apology, no compensation. *********** had to contact the hotel and correct the price again. Access code arrived less than 3 hours prior to check-in, which was the first I knew of my downgrade. Classic rooms are OK but very noisy if you’re at the back. Sink plug broken, poor ventilation, good Wi-Fi, clean and comfortable bed. Stayed 2 nights but after first night, no housekeeping, no clean cups, no new toiletries and bottles of water. They have clearly, following the decision to sell, given up. If you haven’t booked already, or have a flexible booking, you might wish to do the same.

The only homestay booked in this trip is a little distance from the center of Oxford Town. It takes about 20 minutes to walk. There is a separate yard to do the parking lot. It is very difficult to park at Oxford. Breakfast is done on site, there is also self-service, and the service brother is very good. The location of the front desk is not very clear, the room is on the highest floor, there is no elevator, the stairs are narrow, it will be very difficult to carry heavy luggage, and the bath water adjustment is not very good.

Return visit, we enjoy staying here, the location is perfect, plus there is parking (no extra charge), and the staff all nice & polite. Our room was nice & spacious, beautiful view , clean & tidy. As it was my birthday we were gifted a couple of cocktails on the bar, which was lovely so thank you. Breakfast has a good choice, all freshly made to order. The only thing I would say is, it would be nice if there was more of a separate bar area to just enjoy drinks. Overall the hotel is lovely, and hopefully next time we will get to enjoy the library area.

I was a bit dubious about staying in a room above a pub/ restaurant, but was very pleasantly surprised ! The room was really nice, as well as the bathroom.( A light above the bathroom mirror, might be a good idea ? ) The bed was excellent & although the main road was nearby, I slept like a log. The English breakfast & the buffet was really good value for money. The staff were really friendly & very helpful.......We will be back !

Stayed here for 1 night as it was close to the 02. Very limited car park on site do had to park on the street. Should have turned around at the front door which was very uninviting. Green fish tanks in the hallway and bags of stuff. Went through to the back room to check in. Absolute bomb site, paperwork and junk everywhere. Chinese man took payment and showed us to our room. Room was freezing as all the windows were open. Probably to get rid of any lurking smells. Checked the bed first, bedding was actually crisp, white and clean. Curtains were all ripped, furniture needed replacing, mattress was too small for the bed so had a bit gap where you could see cardboard covering the slats. Bathroom was somewhat clean but needed a major redo. When we returned after our night out we struggled to get in the front door. The key doesn’t fit right. During the night the front door rang so others obviously had the same problem. My partner turned over a couple of times when he got into bed and felt the slats give way so he spent the whole night frozen to one spot in case he fell through the bed. I slept quite well considering. Didn’t bother with the shower the next morning was safer to wait til I got home. Left the keys on the bedside table and got out fast. Will definitely not be staying here again. Feels dirty, unsafe and needs major improvement. Only good point was the location was 5 mins walk to the 02.
