Pousada do Ouro

We stayed in this gem for 4 nights in a small simple but clean and air conditioned room. The location is perfect, has private parking and is right in town accessible to all the town offers. The best part was the front desk staff that provided us with all the best information about what to do and how!

Lovely hotel in a lovely town. Staff was extremely helpful an fluent in English… even some French. The anti mosquito plug and liquid were provided Nice sitting area and bar, excellent breakfast. Amazing pool area. Quite a few famous guests seam to have been there. We would definitely come back if we’re in the area again.

It's a great place. We are a family of three and had a triple room in the reception part of the inn and it was perfect. The pool, sauna, pool table, and bar area all make for a great family hang out space. The staff are terrific. Breakfast is outstanding. We loved it. Thank you for a great stay.

A very nice property in the old town. Almost every detail takes you back to the history of Paraty. Quite an authentic stay, really enjoyed it. Modern facilities (wifi, shower, swimming pool etc.) are there but historical details dominate. Staff members are very helpful. Receptionists, some speak English, can guide you through the hotel and nearby area. Very nice guys and ladies. I had my suitcase broken during the trip to Paraty. A maintenance guy fixed it in less than an hour:- saved my trip, really grateful to the guy. Breakfast is in a very nice old style beautiful restaurant. It is a la carte, which is great for not overeating, and service is a high quality one. Historical part of the town is quite small and walkable, all that could be done in 2-3 hours. Overall, a very nice pleasant stay in a historical building, really enjoyed it. Thanks a lot and all the best to the property staff members.

Highly recommend staying in this pousada. The common areas, rooms, bar and pool are all beautiful and traditionally decorated. The staff on the desk are friendly, knowledgeable and are available 24 hours a day. The breakfast which is included is delicious with lots of variety of freshly prepared food. Would love to stay here again!

Pousada do Ouro was part of our Honeymoon trip. We've stayed 2 nights and were astonished to see how they succeded to keep the building in its original state! The gardens are very well planted. We've been welcomed with a sweet amenity in our room for our special event and felt pampered during all our stay. The rooms are comfy and very clean. The breakfast is delicious. We thank Isabella for the very professional and attentive service.

Great pool . Very friendly people . All in all great hotel

Reminiscent of the past (historical building) yet with modern facilities (super strong WiFi even in the room), strong hot water etc. We had a super suite in the main building so just downstairs to the nice breakfast restaurant and also the pool and the quiet common area. The suite includes a king size bed in the en suite, and a dining table and a day bed in the living area so very spacious for us. The staff are very friendly and helpful with travel info. They also help organize a private boat tour to the islands for us. You can choose 3-5 hours (5 hours stop over for lunch somewhere at extra costs). It is possible it would be cheaper if you just talk to any captains you see near the waterfront but it is definitely more reliable we book through the hotel. If you are coming with a car, please note you cannot get direct access to the front door (facing the cobblestone road) because it is car-forbidden in the old city. So you must drive an extra 3 minutes around to the back door facing the ocean (which is strange for modern days real estate world but in the olden days people cared more about other issues facing the water). So this hotel instead of being described as waterfront, you can call it “water back” 🤪 we saw tourist drivers trying very hard to back out on the cobblestone roads (because they nonetheless ignored the “pedestrian only”signs?), not to mention the cops there giving out tickets to jay parkers…. The hotel being inside the Old Town is of course within walking distance to all the restaurants, shops, churches and the river/the bay. A very peaceful and relaxing stay for us.

We stayed at Pousada do Ouro on a planned 4 day trip to Paraty, Brazil after attending the wedding of the son of dear friends in Rio. We were enjoying the area and the lovely Pousada (and celebrating our own 40th wedding anniversary) when unfortunately my husband became ill and tested positive for Covid. The Pousada and especially its manager-Isabel-could not have been more gracious and helpful as we isolated for the required 5 days. They helped us by maximizing ventilation in our suite so that I could try to avoid contracting Covid from my husband which I did. They brought us our meals and when he felt better arranged for him to go out for walks via the back door so as not to expose other guests. We recommend the beautiful and gracious Pousada to anyone who visits Paraty.
