Surf & Sand Hotel

It’s a motel. That said, it’s super cute. The location is beyond perfect. Literally walk across the street to the gulf and just steps from your room is their private beach on the bay. You cannot beat the location or the people. Standard two Queen room, with mini fridge and microwave. Three pillows per bed. Regular shade and blackout shade on the window. Don’t like sand on the floor, bring a broom. If you leave the room, you will bring back sand. It’s a beach town. The staff is AMAZING! Front desk was very kind and helpful. Little shop in the lobby is well stocked and reasonably priced. Decor is nice, paint is fresh. Elizabet, the breakfast hostess, is engaging and makes perfect waffles during the complimentary breakfast (be kind, tip her!). They provide kayaks and paddle boards during the day at no charge. The pool has toys to use. It also has a chair lift to get in/out of the pool, if needed. Several umbrellas between the chaises. Two covered seating areas. They have beach cruisers to use. (No charge) Guest laundry $2 wash/$2 dry - desk has quarters. Nice machines. Ice machine is in laundry area. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in shower. Hand soap and lotion (nice!) by the sink. Highly recommend bringing your beach towels, they just can’t keep up with the demand for towels. I just washed our towels and swimsuits overnight. We Uber’d in, but if you’re parking, they charge $10/day. The landscaping is kept up and very pretty. I want to tell you it sucks so there is always a room available for me, but it is a tremendous value, safe, clean, with great people and amenities. It’s the place to go for serious fun and relaxation without breaking the bank. Make sure you enjoy a few of their sunsets on the bay.
Holiday Inn Express Pensacola Beach

We stayed in this hotel once before Covid and loved it. Now it's even better. There were many great touches, like the lace curtains leading to the balcony with patio furniture overlooking the beach. There was a nice long desk and a long bathroom counter for toiletries. The thermostat-controlled heat worked well. The towels were large and fluffy. The breakfast was beautifully laid out and the hot oatmeal had ample condiments for it. I have only two suggestions. The bathroom fan turns on when the light switch is turned on. This makes it drafty when showering. It would also be nice to be able to leave the fan running without the light. Also, the shower stall could use another grab-bar. It's necessary to release the grab-bar when adjusting the water temperature, and the tub could be slippery. Overall, this was the nicest, cleanest hotel we stayed in during our 16-day road trip.
Hampton Inn Pensacola Beach

Overview: This is from a Diamond Member who travels over 200 days a year. If you’re looking for a Hilton Property that overlooks a beautiful beach with easy access to the beach and water – then the Hampton will work for you. With only 4 Floors (Highly Recommend 4th Floor – overlooking beach – other side just looks over a parking lot), ample parking and large rooms with fast Wi-Fi, comfortable beds and window a/c’s that push out very cold air (but are also quite loud). This is a very well used property, and you will notice wear & tear if you look around – I saw maintenance personnel every day working hard to repair and replace things. Why 4-stars: Couple of things just didn’t work well – and should when one pays for a service and expects that level of service. Texted the hotel upon arrival (via the app) a couple of times and never got a response. When I checked in (an hour past the time stated by the hotel) the room was not ready, staff did make a change but tried to move me to the 2nd floor w/o asking me (remember I had picked a 4th floor room w/virtual key) so I had to get me moved back to the 4th floor…..and then had to ask if I could have my 2-waters as a diamond member. I get places are short staffed and I was OK with having to remove my own trash and ask for towels to replace used ones….but simple things should be easy to take care of. A few challenges in the room also added to the rating – however still a solid hotel for a beach stay. Next door is a Hilton property if you prefer – but it is quite large so many more guest to deal with this property never seemed busy except at breakfast. If back will look to stay here again – 4th Floor overlooking beach! Tips to Help w/Stay: 8-minute drive to where a Publix and Walmart Neighborhood grocery stores are to grab some snacks (no places on Island – except a Circle K) and the rooms have a decent size frig to hold beverages and a few snacks. 25-minute drive to Pensacola airport. Next door are two restaurants (Crabs & ???) that allow you to walk up in swimsuits and eat. Across the street (easy walk) is Alvin’s to pick up forgotten beach things or grab a souvenir. Early morning walks before the beaches fill up are recommended and either direction offer stunning water, sand, and views. The hotel offers a large breakfast selection (I don’t do these so can’t comment on quality) but it seemed to be well utilized and the offerings (hot and cold) looked OK as I walked by. Finally, there are numerous restaurants within a 2–5-minute walk and many more to choose from via a 3 – 5 drive to either show up in your bathing suit (next to hotel) or get a little more dressed up for a good dinner.
