I was in the area with my teenage son for a 3-day baseball tournament. Overall, this is a beautiful looking hotel with what appears to be great amenities (I didn't make use of any of them during our stay because of time constraints). There's an entire water park on the premises, as well as a wellness center and convention center. The main thing I noted was that the property is impressive, but old; probably built in the late 70's or early 80's, in the Spanish mission style. As such, the buildings are attractive looking, but now somewhat dated. Parts of the rooms, such as the bathrooms, beds, furniture and tv's have been nicely updated, but the carpet in our room looked like it was still from the 80's, with stains to match. The front room in our King suite had been redone with tile.
The hotel staff were very responsive. I received a couple of texts to check in on how our visit was going, and I let them know about a few minor repairs to our room (a very squeaky bathroom door and a stuck front door). They came and took care of them very promptly.
We ate breakfast at the Hole in the Wall cafe, with a nice view of the water park, but once we got seated outside, it took almost 15 minutes for someone to get our order, and we were a bit pressed for time. Servers helping nearby tables totally ignored us, and I had to walk back in to ask for someone. Eventually a server named Brandi (I believe), came out, apologized for the delay and took great care of us. I hope she got our tip.
