We were staying over for two nights from Durban to PMB for a birthday weekend. Upon arrival at reception, the receptionist was not at all friendly or helpful. She spoke very little to us while we just stood and waited for guidance to our room. We completed the breakfast form at check-in and the form wasn't very clear. It had a sausage option but did not specify you could only select one. It had a number of egg option, but didn't specify how many you could have. There were a number of things we didn't want from the menu (mushrooms, oats, fruit bowl etc), and requested 3 eggs instead, but we only got 2 without the staff letting us know when we filled the form or when they served breakfast to us. Better communication would be helpful. After we completed our breakfast form at check-in, the receptionist mumbled a few words and walked away. We didn't hear what she said as she walked away so fast and we didn't know whether she was annoyed at something we'd done. After she walked away, she looked back at us after a while and said to follow her. We gathered she was taking us to our room after that. We had the Wanderer's room and it was a very tight space for two people with a big bed in the middle because of the headboard/window. We had to take turns walking around the room because the walk space was so minimal. The toilet seat in our room was also damaged. In the mornings the main door would open and bang shut- not sure if this was the staff/guests. But it was very noisy since the house is also small and you can hear people talking from their rooms. On the first day of breakfast, the staff again did not speak at all to us. The whole atmosphere was not good. We sat at a table and drank juice while we waited for breakfast and after a couple of minutes, the staff brought out food and laid it on a different table and asked us to move there. We didn't see the point of this as she didn't tell us why. She also didn't ask us nicely to move over. Overall, the only positive was that the BnB was close to the Golden Horse, where we were going for dinner. If the staff were nicer, it would have made our stay more memorable and we would have felt welcomed and not eager to leave.
