Top 5-Star Hotels in Puerto de la Cruz

This was our third stay at Hotel Botanico, and we felt like we were returning 'home' after a gap of 2 years because of Covid. This is such a beautiful hotel, in a stunning, peaceful garden setting. The rooms are excellent, the staff are so friendly and helpful. Beautiful swimming pools and amazing spa facilities. There are lots of restaurants and bistros very close by, as well as the hotel's own restaurants, and a shuttle bus leaves for the main port just a 10 minute ride, which is full of restaurants, bars and shops etc. Jet 2 holidays were efficient, helpful, and all the arrangements worked.

Hotel really good and not bad location. No real nightlife but we knew that when booking. Staff couldn’t do enough for you. Entertainment was ok not great. Best part was the food! OMG so much choice! Downstairs pool was a good find, warm pool with jacuzzi. Loads of sun beds as well. No getting up early to secure as we could always get some! Highly recommend this hotel

Just been back again for the third year, and we’ll definitely be back next year. We love this hotel. Amazing value for money, great pool area and pool bar, we love the hot tubs. We’re always sad to say goodbye to the friendly lizards. The rooms are great, air conditioned, good soundproofing and black out blinds. All of the staff are great. We never want to go home on our last day.

This hotel needs to decide whether it wants to remain a 4 star establishment or a youth hostel. Our visit was ruined by hordes of teenagers from various schools. They kept us awake during the nite running up and down the corridors banging on doors. We complained twice to reception and was told a manager would come up to our room to speak to us ...this never happened. The staff did nothing to recity complaints. The dining room felt like a school canteen. It was loud and crowded. If you are looking for rest and relaxation avoid this hotel. The food was average certainly not 4 star and often stone cold. On a positive note the rooms were extremely clean and there are lots of restaurants, bars and shops nearby. If you have mobility issues then this the hotel is not for you as its on an extremely steep hill.

I stayed here for 4 nights. I had a nice holiday apart from becoming ill from the dinner at the hotel. When entering my room it was spacious for myself. The only thing that surprised me was there was no fridge! It would have been nice to keep my drinks cool. Other than that the room was great. Housekeeping were also excellent. The food at breakfast was alright plenty of choice for everyone. Some foods were overcooked and dry. I booked half board and the foods available at dinner was ok but just like breakfast some foods again slightly overcooked. However during the night I became ill and had sickness and diarrhoea, this was definitely from eating the dinner as the rest of the day I felt absolutely fine. When I was better the next day I had breakfast from the hotel and ate out elsewhere in the evening and was fine. On the final day I came to my hotel room after spending last few hours in the area and noticed my keycard wasn’t working. Unaware of this it was deactivated due to checkout time being at 12pm. I was unaware of this until asking reception to activate my card again. One of the ladies at reception was quite rude she said jet2 (who I used) should have told me, I said it was more yourselves some form of communication about this would have been nice. The hotel is beautiful especially looking onto the pool area and seeing the palm trees. It is in a perfect distance to the beach literally across the road. If I was to stay in the area again I’d come back here but just only for bed and breakfast.

This is a lovely hotel. Spotlessly clean, great facilities, wonderful staff, food ok for the type of property BUT there is this weird “privilege” ranking for guests that absolutely ruined the experience. You pay a premium rate to stay here. In our case we spent more to upgrade our room but then found that there is a two tier system applied. In essence, premium guests sit in a mezzanine restaurant looking down on the plebs. We are served singles glasses of wine and spend every meal trying to catch the eye of over worked waiters to ask for another. We had to sit in the same garden restaurant for lunch (again segregated seating) watching them have an extensive menu of what looks to be, lovely food whilst our options were rubbish burgers, hot dogs or other cheap and poorly prepared other choices. I cannot describe how humiliating this was and we have never felt so poorly treated. I’m certain that the stock response from the hotel will be “we are sorry but hope you’ll come again etc.” Well we won’t- there are plenty of terrific hotels that TUI offer that make you feel appreciated- H10 don’t with this ridiculous segregation, so my advice is to choose another or, if you feel drawn by the location - go B&B and take advantage of the many local bars and restaurants.

This hotel is excellent we loved every part of it. Stayed in room 620 ideal for reception/pool (level 7) and restaurant (level five) the hotel is spotless the staff are excellent and the sound of the sea each evening is soothing. Tips The hotel is a bit of a distance to the main town it’s very hilly and we only went down once you can walk a kind of cliff path but it’s full of stairs which after a while kills you and gets very tedious. Go out of the hotel walk to the top road go right and you will see a walkway with steps follow them down (they are called the Agatha Christie steps as there is a statue as she had a house there each step has a book title on them) just keep following the road down to the sea front loads of shops and restaurants plus the lido ( which is due to open soon) you can either walk back or get a taxi (4/5 euros) we didn’t bother going again as the Main Street above the hotel had many bar’s restaurants and shops very reasonable priced excellent service not much of a party time if you like that kind of thing down town will be better for you. Food Breakfast is amazing plenty of choice and easy to get through Evening meal got board quickly so used only a couple of times drinks expensive and didn’t approve they charged for water you pay for drinks on the way out or you can charge money to your room and top up when it runs out we preferred to pay as we go drinks wise we preferred to eat out and give to local family business etc. The pool The rule is no personal towels you need to hire them from reception ten euros (refundable with receipt) to change for fresh one one euro exchange but we found we could use both our own and the hotels the reason they like you to use them to show that you are staying there and haven’t sneaked in. The bar is good very professional service. The room Lovely views over the sea the bathroom has been the best I have ever had abroad lives the multi shower lights and the screen window trick great fun to play with tv is crap so we always take a fire stick power lead and remote control Wi-Fi is very good the codes allow two devices per ticket but you can have as many as you like we had three tablets two phones and a fire stick don’t forget to put in the code for your fire stick to make it work you might not get every thing you get at home but it’s better than the tv without it We booked with jet2 excellent transfers etc the excursions we booked was the body trip up the side of the island we managed to see whales and dolphins I do warn it will be a long day 11.45 we left and didn’t get back until eight pm if you don’t like rough conditions sea wise this trip might not be for you as four plus hours on a boat feeling sea sick isn’t much fun there is chance to swim off the boat the food was a bit naff not to everyone’s taste take a jumper it can start to get cold. We booked this hotel as part of the cheapest package holiday we could find. Having read through multiple reviews, we (26, young professionals) arrived with the lowest expectations and were pleasantly surprised before even walking though the door. The location? Perfect. Incredible accessibility to excursions to get out and about around the island. Cleanliness? Impeccable. Staff? Patient and kind throughout our stay. The variety of breakfast and dinner was also wide and suited us fine. While sea-facing views do tend to have some noise from the bars below, this tended to shut off around 11pm. We had some cheap foam earplugs which did the trick if we wanted an earlier night. The views are wonderful (picture attached). Our only point of contention - the cocktails are bad. Bring your own drinks to the pool (discreetly) or head to the Gramophone round the corner for a good mixed drink. The fact that people have written that no young people should come here baffles us. We had a fabulous time. Value for money has been fantastic. We had a great time and hope to be back soon.

I cannot believe this hotel is such good value. It has excellent staff levels (all smile and have a friendly 'can do' attitude - it says a lot about the ownership and management), very good food offered in the restaurant, and is set in nice gardens with quiet terraces and childrens play area. It has three swimming pools, massage and wellness services. It is set back up the hillside from the busy commercial and sea front area but has a shuttle bus if you don't fancy the fairly steep walk down/back up. We have been here a week and have another yet to come but I have a feeling we will be back. We wholly recommend this hotel.
