Los Arcos Suites

Excellent location- across from the beach in the centre of town. Beds were firm, with good bedding and pillows. We had a spacious room with a balcony, king size bed over looking the pool - which I highly recommend. There is building work outside the hotel so avoid the rooms overlooking the road. We were told we could not use the main hotel swimming pool ( but we did anyway and no one cared) although they did have security guards hovering about. This hotel does not have a bar, which is fine for us, there was no coffee available most mornings (there was meant to be) which was a bit annoying but that was the only thing to complain about! Staff were friendly although some of the reception staff had poor English so best to have an app on your phone!
Casa Doña Susana
4.1/5102 Reviews
Earlier this year, I had a lovely stay at Hotel Casa Dona Susana and gave the hotel a nice review on TripAdvisor. Based on that experience, when I was going to be in Puerto Vallarta for one night in July, I booked using Booking.com. I arrived at the hotel and checked in. Then the man who checked me in excused himself. A few minutes later a woman came to the front desk and told me the hotel was sold out (I had already checked in). She said they would put me in Playa Los Arcos across the street, in a large room with a King bed. She then had me check in a second time. After asking a couple of times why my reservation had been accepted when they were sold out, she admitted they knew that they never had a room for me in Hotel Casa Dona Susana and had always planned on putting me in one of their other hotels. Playa Los Arcos is much larger than Hotel Casa Dona Susana and is geared to families. The pool was filled with kids and music was blaring all afternoon. The noise only stopped at 10 p.m. when it started raining. So much for relaxing stay. My room was large but the furniture was tacky (faux tiffany lamp) instead of charming. Would it have been too much to have comped me either breakfast or a drink for the bait and switch?
Hotel Amaca Puerto Vallarta - Adults Only
4/599 Reviews
Fantastic 1 week stay at Amaca Hotel and zero complaints. I stayed in room 102 and it was just fine - albeit basic. The wifi is great, the shower is powerful and hot, the room is very clean and tidy and there is a partial sea view. I had a look up to the rooftop bar and pool, I didn't use the pool - just took some pics from there and the view is great. There is also a daily happy hour 6-8pm I believe, which will offer you a great sunset view. The front desk of the hotel will help you however you wish, super-friendly and nice. As previous posts have mentioned, getting back to the hotel of an evening or after the beach etc there is a very steep incline consisting of 100 steps - although until about 9-10pm in the evening there is a cute lift that will take you up and down. However, worth noting this point for getting about after this time of night. Will definitely come back and stay, great location for restaurants and bars.
Hotel Posada de Roger

The hotel stands out for the location. Keep in mind for a 3 star hotel the rooms are small and outdated but for the price your getting a very good deal for PV compared to many places. The Taxi/Uber are available, the beach is walking distance, lots of amazing places to eat and shop, lots of night life and entertainment, and the buses are available for public transport anywhere in PV which i found to be the most convenient. Simply the location is the best ever and that is what your paying for the most in the price. The hotel staff cleans the room really well the the courtyard is pretty beautiful especially at night. The AC is so cold and well maintained that you wont be able to sleep on low setting. The staffs are very friendly and check-in and out was a breeze. Overall I am very happy with my stay here, next time ill be staying here again.

Super location, everything one needs within 2 to 3 minute walk and beach about a 12 minute walk. Very clean and neat and everything one needs for a great stay in PV! I would stay again and recommend it to friends and family.
Hotel Hacienda de Vallarta Centro
3.3/5101 Reviews
This hotel is the absolute worst I have ever stayed in and the pictures on the booking sites are more than misleading ( check out my pictures for a real view of what you get) The hotel felt like a hostel overall. The rooms are less than 3X the advertised size , everything appears old, broken, molded, rusted and in disrepair. We had a 3 person room with what appear to be a twin bed and a twin and a half (smaller than a full we have at home) - not what was advertised . Moving through this small room took some choreography. The floor was tile - half broken so walking barefoot could land you in emergency room. The door had no way to lock for security - not ideal. The bathroom was terrible - with the exception of the shower that was nice and hot the wooden window was very moldy, all metal was rusted and the electrical connection to the lamp was completely exposed which made me nervous every time I took a shower. The toilet bowl was broken and repaired with what appeared to be superglue but probably the worst thing was the position of the toilet which was so close to the wall that I had to come up with a new strategy to sit in order to be able to use it and when going to the shower almost had to jump over it. The worse part was probably sleeping. The noise - a combination of the robust traffic busses and cars that go all night and conveniently brake and honk right at the intersection by the hotel blend with the shows from the cabaret that is sharing a wall with the hotel. The windows and door did not block any sound ( ours had a small crack in it to match the rest of the room) and even with ear plugs was impossible to sleep. Other interesting firsts for me at this hotel. When checking in a deposit for the TV remote was asked although the TV was included in the room amenities. The TV turns on but without the remote stays on one channel and has no external buttons other than power. Hair dryer not in the room and also required a deposit to gain access to one. The safe in the room was a cube that barely accommodated the size of a passport (smallest I have ever seen). All wiring was external , only 2 single outlets in a room for 3 people with all electrical connections exposed and not insulated. No closet but an iron rod with a couple hangers and a wood piece half way to the floor. One little cubby with 5 drawers for 3 people and a suspended sink that only accommodated the tooth brush and paste. The checkout was also special since I had to bring personally the towels and A/C Remote to the desk to avoid being charged the omnipresent deposit. For the brave souls that read this far I have a tip - since the Wi-Fi in the room is horrid you can get to the 4th floor terrace, get a nice view and have consistent signal as the Wi-Fi antenna is right there by the lounge chairs. When bringing out grievances to the manager we were given the option to pay per night as much as we paid per week to gain access to the rooms that were advertised on the site or find another
