Hubby and I just recently stayed for 3 nights in a nice suite with bedroom and extra living area space. Not sure what's with the negative reviews, unless they have stepped up their game as it is the summer season. Breakfast was great with the yummy warm cinnamon rolls back!! I didn't use it but the pancake machine was a great hit with others. Swimming pool; not huge but good for a dip and to relax. Only thing I didn't like was that housekeeping is only every 5 days. I know you can call if you want to have it done, but 5 days seems to be a little much. I would stay here again!!!

Had a nice stay at the Residence Inn Portsmouth (Downtown) this past weekend. My wife and I stayed two nights to celebrate our anniversary. When we arrived at the hotel, we choose to valet the car (Cost $40). We arrived late and used the service as a convenience. When we checked in, the hotel front desk person said, we upgraded you. I felt great taking the elevator to the 5th floor. When I entered the room, I was expecting a room beyond what I was paying for (1 Bedroom Suite). But turns out, there was no upgrade. The next morning we choose to see how the complementary breakfast was. We were do disappointed in the offerings. Pre-Bagged Waffles, Per-Bagged Egg sandwiches, just gross looking. We decided to pass on breakfast and find something in the area. We decided to take a ride to do some shopping out of the downtown area and took the car out of the valet. When we returned back to the resort, we were able to find a meter within a few feet from the entrance. So we opted to leave our car outside for the evening. If you choose to do this, ensure you pay the meter until 8PM. After 8PM, you can leave it at the space for the night. As we were walking back to our room, we overheard the front desk person telling another family at check in that they got an upgrade. I was like, wait a second here. Do they tell everyone this to make them feel good. Or is this just a coincidence. The room was clean and comfortable. Would of been a five star review if the breakfast offering was anything above what we got. A waffle iron would go a long way. You can do better. And the price for the parking seems a little excessive especially where there are plenty of other parking offerings in the area.

A chain hotel on the highway side, it is quite good to find. The rooms are small and have other basic facilities. Breakfast variety is OK, there is free parking, the hotel price is small.

I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Tucked away in a quiet area but across the street from stores and malls and only 8 minutes drive to downtown Portsmouth. The rooms have been completely renovated to match new RI builds, WIFI worked great, halls were clean and quiet and staff were super friendly and helpful. Pets welcome and there is a nice, though small, grill and sitting area outside. The ONLY downside is that on Saturday night, the neighboring Cisco Brewery has an extremely loud patio bar. It felt like an earthquake. It does quiet down by 10pm. If you can get past this it'll pleasantly surprise you.

I reserved a two queen suite on the third floor, the room was large and very clean, looked like new carpet and furniture. Wife and I thought we could relax with a good nights sleep. No about 10pm a scrapping noise started stopped after an hour or so then around 5am started again continued till we checked out. Front desk said ”oh we heard about this before” don't know what it is. $172 down the drain. So much for satisfaction or refund.

Not bad, very convenient

I booked a stay at the holiday inn in Salem nh Friday may 19 to sat may 20 for me and my boyfriend to stay after attending a wedding in the area. I booked the 2 double bed room about 2 weeks ago with no problem. I received a few emails leading up to my stay reassuring me that this hotel would provide exceptional service and comfort. Since I was part of the wedding party my boyfriend was the one to arrive and check in. He did so around 4 pm on Friday may 19. Check in went smoothly, we got assigned room 318 and he made his way to the room. No problem with the room everything was fine and he got dressed and left some of his belongings in the room, and headed to the venue. We got back later that night to the hotel around 12:45am to a fire alarm going off. We waited and about 20 mins later it turned off and we made our way to the room. Once we got to the door my boyfriend used to the key he was given and tried to open the door, it was latched from the inside with all the lights off. We thought it was weird and maybe we got the wrong room. Tried one more time then attempted to unlock the door next to it thinking we got the rooms mixed up, no luck. He tried the door one more time, and a mans voice comes out the dark room and he shuts the door and we head to the front lobby. I gave my name and asked what room we had been assigned. I was told 318, I told the guy at the desk there was a man in my room. Confused he called our room and sure enough a man answered, he had been on a reservation for that night but not for that room number, he was suppose to be in 310 with a roommate but somehow ended up in our room. After some time I was told he was part of corporate and normally travels with a roommate, but still no explanation how he got into our room when my boyfriend had already gone thru check in and was assigned and given a key. No help and no explanation of how someone could be given a key to my assigned room with no record of that man being assigned that room . There are a lot of what if scenarios that could have happened that night with a strange man being in a room under a Womens reservation. What if I was alone in that room when that strange man made his was in.. A man I’m assuming was their janitor or maybe security guard went up to the room with my boyfriend to get my his personal belongings that were still in the room. Once up there the man answered the door and my boyfriend said he was dirty and the room smelled really bad. The janitor/security man he was with said something along of the lines of that man didn’t seem right . To add to this wonderful experience, we were told there were no other rooms available that night since they were fully booked. Mind you it is close to 2 am at this point. We got told they could try to find us somewhere else to stay. But as annoyed as we were we decided we rather drive the hour home. This hotel is an older building that has been nicely renovated. The hotel was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Each room haS a microwave! That is a very rare thing to find. When traveling for business it gets old eating in a restaurant. Having a microwave is a huge plus! The fridges are the taller ones that can actually hold a good amount of items. Two thing to take note of: If you are in the front of the hotel the highway traffic is quite loud. I was woken several times by jake brakes. The other thing is try and get a room without a balcony in the winter. It’s a rare thing for me to set a thermostat at 70 degrees. Because the balcony door/windows allowed cold air in, the thermostat was set at 74. If you sit near the balcony your feet will get cold. House keeping is loud. I happened to be in my room after 2pm to get some rest and it sounded like the head of house keeping was disciplining a house keeper that accidentally went into a room that didn’t want service. The housekeeper was being talked to like she was a child. Had I not had such a bad headache I would have opened my door and told her to be quiet or take the yelling elsewhere. Not sure when business will have me in that area again but despite the couple of negatives I pointed out, I will stay again.
