we stayed 2 nights and were pleasantly surprised. location- in the midst of the pedestrian zone. this means that if you want to drop off your luggage at the front door upon checkin you need to get the code from the hotel reception to lower the barrier at the pedestrian zone entrance to drive your car up to the front of the hotel. then you would park your car in the alstadt public garage (built into the adjacent mountainside) and walk in the tunnel back to the pedestrian zone (about 1/4 mile). checkin- easy and simple. we did not book the breakfast buffet which would have been 20 euro per person. there is a slight discount with the public parking garage. rooms- basic and simple and on the small side, but very adequate. the less expensive rooms are in an adjoining building which requires to take 2 elevators (or a few stairs). this did notbotzer us as we expected it from reading the reviews. our room was very quiet, and had a small fridge and safe. the hotel has a supposedly good restaurant but be sure to reserve a table as i do not believe hotel guests get any advantage to access.

We stayed one night in January, 2024 on an overnight trip from Munich. Great location in a busy area of old Salzburg. Very helpful desk staff. Beautiful room with good bathroom and shower. There was a very good included breakfast. Highly recommended

We stayed here for nine days during the Christmas holidays. The two main pros for this hotel was a fantastic location in old town and an extremely comfortable bed. The room we stayed in was a little outdated in its furniture and lacked decor. There are no coffee/tea makers in the room. Luckily there was a store a short distance away where we bought our own coffee pod machine for only 29 euros. The restaurant for the hotel was closed more than it was open during our stay but there are plenty of great dining options in the area. The breakfast buffet was average with a decent selection but there were no changes in its menu the entire time. The hotel advertises on its website “ In our hotel you will experience the hospitality that you can expect in Austria and Salzburg!” My wife and I have been to Salzburg several times and I can honestly say that this hotel missed the mark on promoting that feeling of hospitality and a welcomed stay. Depending on your travel needs, this hotel maybe a fine stay for some but unfortunately, I dont believe I would stay there again.

First of all we had a hard time findIng where to park the car. We ended up parking in a lot walking to the hotel to find out where to park. They sent an email with a description of where to park, but the GPS did not find it. When we went to the front desk, they gave a much more detailed description of where to park. Why not give us the coordinates and address to that garage to make it easier ? I couldn’t make calls out or I get charged since I am out of the country from my plan. Then when we checked in they told us breakfast was not included in my rate. I told them it was. They said my room rate was to cheap and it was not included. I emailed *********** who opened up a ticket. I sent them my screen shots of the free breakfast. *********** responded again when we were out on a tour and I didn’t see the question the the next thing I know I get a note back saying “ this chat ended due to inactivity” from ***********. I don’t understand why they would do that when I sent them pictures of my screenshots. Never heard from ***********. The hotel did not give us the breakfast. We ended up having to pay extra for two breakfasts. The hotel was very clean rooms were spacious! The other thing we did not like was that the way to get to the rooms you had to take your luggage up a few stairs turn a corner go to an elevator. It was a real hassle. I will say they were very nice about giving me ICE because I had hit my head on the door before we had arrived .

Fantastic location, hot shower though sadly that was as good as it got. The hotel failed to meet expectations and I’d go as far as to say the management are being wholly dishonest in their marketing. Room so small we could not walk down by the bed without a sideways shimmy. Towels thin and like sandpaper. Cheap shower surround that did not shut as so the floor was constantly wet and slippery. To be fair it was quite clean as long as you didn’t look on the skirting, hair dryer or any places above or below eye level. For the price point unusually there were no toiletries except for shower gel. No tea and coffee making facilities. The lighting was awful, could not see well enough to find things in my suitcase. There was nowhere to put the suitcase. Ridiculous wardrobe light which only comes on when you shut the doors so couldn’t see when trying to locate clothes. Hotel security non existent- anyone could walk in. Aside from the housekeeper who wished us a good day, staff barely acknowledged us. Going by the other complaints we heard as we passed reception, we were not the only dissatisfied customers. Our complaint was entirely dismissed by the staff who clearly repeated a standard response. We travelled with friends who had a much bigger room at the same price point though experienced the same lack of facilities. Poor attention to detail. The bar was not open, the restaurant was separate to the hotel and not open every day. There was no lounge area. Shame, I really wanted to like it and generally my experience of family run hotels is very different. Avoid.

We enjoyed our stay in this historic Hotel. Our welcome was efficient. The room was warm, very clean and had a fabulous view of the Hohensalzburg Fortress, up on the 5th floor. The breakfast was very nice with fresh eggs cooked to order. Lovely breads & rolls, along with all of the usual choices. The Christmas Market made our trip very special.

Location is by far the best thing this hotel has going for it. You're on the Old Town streets and so much to see and do at your doorstep. Christmas market was down the street, turn left and here you go! One of the men at check in was quite pleasant and very helpful with a map outlining where we should go. Room was comfortable but would have liked some luggage racks to put our bags on and not lay them on the floor. Probably could have called and requested but not worth the trouble. On site restaurant wasn't open at all during our stay which was a disappointment. We usually choose a hotel with a lounge to relax with a cocktail after a day of sightseeing but nothing like that here during our stay. Breakfast was fine but no service of any kind. Unless you spoke German you were unaware eggs were able to be had on a request basis. Woman working the breakfast room was very curt and unpleasant. Not a great way to start your day. Overall, a nice stay.

Just over €10 euros for a cab from the station which can drop you right outside the hotel (and pick you up there too). Located in the old town and a fantastic location. Our room was very modern. Great storage. Most comfortable bed of our trip. Mini-bar for once was a reasonable price. Bar in the basement of the hotel was fantastic but we could only use it on Saturday as it was closed on both Sunday and Monday as was the on-site restaurant which looked good. Good choice for breakfast. However, it did get busy and people were either waiting for a table or being asked to return later. Pick this hotel for location. It’s clean and functional rather than luxurious. If staying on a Sunday do book restaurants as many were closed and we were lucky in that the Christmas markets were open and we could get street food. If going again I’d try to book in advance.

The hotel is elegant, the service top notch, the staff are friendly and approachable. It is truly a one of a kind hotel, with signature quality furnishings in my room, beautiful antique pieces on each floor, and historical photos and artful touches throughout. The breakfast was lovely, including salmon and sparkling white wine. Finally, you will not find a better location. Just inside the beautiful historic "old city" on the fortress side of the river, on a smaller side passage that is more quiet.
