Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Downtown

Downtown San Diego San Diego|0.05km from First Legal
As someone who appreciates rehabbed/repurposed buildings we just had to stay here based off of the gorgeous lobby photos. Let me tell you: it does NOT disappoint! Vanessa at the front desk was super nice when we checked in and greeted/chatted with us both first nights when we came back in. Thank you so much. Location is fantastic just off of 5th/Gaslamp, but at least a couple blocks away to be away from the craziness of the thick of it. Pros: - Centrally located. If you don’t mind walking, we walked to Star of India/Harbor, Convention Center, and Balboa Park (but the last was a HIKE). - Large room. We were in 705 and very impressed by the size and cleanliness. - Gorgeous lobby and fun vintage touches (check the basement!) - Beautifully rehabbed - very tasteful and nice inside elevators, halls, and rooms! - Quiet! Not a single disturbance during our 3 nights. Cons: - No window/outside ventilation. I almost considered making this 4 stars for this alone. I would have loved some cool night breeze and sounds of the city, but all windows are picture glass insulating the original outside windows. It’s a real, genuine bummer and a huge drawback for me. - Toilet paper quality. I’ll never understand why Marriott gives such sandpaper haha. Give us a bidet if that’s the case! :) All in all we were very happy with our stay and recommend this hotel if you love a bit of history and want something Instagrammable. If you’re seeking fancy amenities, look elsewhere.

Lucky d's Youth and Traveler's Hostel

This is my first time trying a youth hostel. It is quite satisfactory and tidier than domestic university dormitories. The service staff are enthusiastic. Everywhere in the city center, transportation is convenient. I met a young man from the Netherlands🇳🇱 by chance and had a great conversation!

Very fond of the hotel, the living room is small, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine, small dining table are all available, but also equipped with a full range of dishes, cutlery, and disposable scouring pad, cleaning Fine, super comfortable. The only drawback is that for the Chinese people who earned the soft sister currency at 1:7+ exchange rate, the parking fee is comparable to the rental fee, and it stops 45 knives per day and stops 37 knives. Finally, I chose to park in a public parking lot 2 blocks away, 20 knives/day, 7 or 8 minutes each time.

The room was fantastic! REALLY comfy bed and linens. Quiet hotel. We slept so well! Wonderful shower. I appreciated the little foot rest in the shower for shaving my legs. There was a lack of storage space in the closet yet there were plenty of areas within the room where additional storage could have been added. While the outside balcony was awesome, the door was difficult to work. A coffee maker would be appreciated. We had ice brought to our room but there was no lid on the ice bucket so the ice melted by morning, when we would have liked more ice. We’ll be back. Very convenient location. We were able to walk to The Balboa, Roma Mia and a wonderful nearby coffee shop. The outside area near the bar was closed when we returned from seeing Leanne Morgan. We would have enjoyed having a quiet cocktail outdoors after the show so that was disappointing. Entire staff was EXCELLENT, went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable.

Gaslamp Plaza Suites

I live in the Marina district in downtown San Diego. My siblings, & their spouses planned a visit to see me in my city, & chose the Gaslamp Plaza Suites as their local base of operations while they were in town. The building is historic, and it was fun to imagine it's long glamorous history amid the nuances of an earlier era, while we explored the unique, and ornate stylings of the rooms, and the incredible views from the rooftop terrace. As is the case with any edifice that has remained standing for so long, there are sometimes logistical issues that one might not experience during a modern hotel stay. This is where the incredible staff figures into the equation. While each of ,”the Crew”, as they referred to themselves, was outstanding, I feel as though I should mention one employee by name. Merry, who greeted my family from behind the desk as they arrived, seemed earnestly interested in enhancing our time and enjoyment at the hotel, & was attentive, friendly, welcoming, & professional. She clearly loves the Hotel, and the people and guests with whom she works, and her positivity was evident throughout. It may be unusual for someone to leave a review of a hotel when they haven't even registered as a guest, but the vicarious thrill I received from witnessing my family's admiration for the holistic experience, compelled me to write and recommend it to any visitor to America's Finest City.
The US Grant, a Luxury Collection Hotel, San Diego

This is an old hotel with rich cultural background, all the staff are very friendly, the room service is timely and in place, the bedding and mattress are very comfortable, the breakfast is not to mention, the weekend menu will be replaced with the brunch menu. All the above advantages allow me to tolerate the only disadvantage of zero view from the window. Parking is valet, there is a cvs at the door, and there is a taco that ranks first in the United States within five minutes' walk, which is pretty good, but there is homeless on the roadside
