Movie Hotel (Shanghai Bund City God Temple Store) Reviews

Booking for two consecutive days and found out that asking them to clean the room while we are going out results in nothing being clean but only to organize bed sheet. Disappointed

The receptionist that spoke English was fantastic. She was so helpful in securing a reservation for us at a specific restaurant as my Chinese is not fluent. The hotel is in a good location, however it is very old or looks old. It is also just has that dirty look from being old.. My friend had the same style room however I only had a chair in the other room but she had a couch and coffee table 😑 It wasn't a big deal as we were gona most of the time, bit proper furniturewould have been nice. Everything was old and run down though. There is NO electrical outlet in the bathroom, very important to know ahead of time. So to fix my hair for the nice restaurant, I had to run to a mirror and then run to where the kettle was to curl my hair. There was no mirror put in the living space either. The last day a roach came out to die in between the doorway of the bedroom and the living space. Sigh haha. At least it waited till the last day. The water pressure is really good and great hot water. If they did a deep clean and updated their furniture I would stay again, but until then... or bought furniture so they could properly decorate haha.

The receptionist didn't speak any English. She did her best to help us, provided us with adapters for free. The bathroom needs to be renovated, the water leaked from the sink and the shower looks like it needs to be renovated as well. Room was clean.

Very nice hotel, clean and big rooms good location nearby metro.

Main point: beds are pretty comfy. My wife slept like a bee in this hotel (She barely sleeps that deep)

The location is great, very close to Chenghuang Temple and Yu Garden, but the hygiene is really bad. When I entered on the first day, there was a puddle of yellow liquid on the floor, which made my suitcase dirty. I called the front desk and asked her to mop it, and she agreed. It was not until I went out to play and came back at 10 pm to ask the front desk downstairs that the floor was cleaned up. Then when I entered the room, the puddle of yellow liquid had dried up and no one mopped it. The next morning when I went out, I told the front desk that I would mop it when I cleaned the room today. I went out to play and came back at 8 pm, and it was still the same. They spread the quilt for me, and didn't even tell me to flatten the sheets, but just spread the quilt on it, not to mention mopping the floor. Why can't they mop such a simple thing? It was so dirty all the time during my 2-day stay... The following photos are only 2 of the ones I took, I didn't take the rest!

I like it very much, the price is also affordable, mainly because I like to watch movies on the big screen. It’s great👍

The hotel I originally booked was the Magic Hotel, but the online car location was wrong and I was taken to this hotel. I asked the front desk if it was a branch, and the front desk said it was a branch but I could only stay at that branch if I booked that hotel. Later, I wanted to take a suitcase and cancel the previous one and stay here. I asked the front desk to open a room, and a guest just came in, so the front desk clerk checked in that guest first. I stood there and asked her to open a room for me. I don’t know if she didn’t hear me. The front desk clerk saw that it was a foreigner and helped to check in. I just placed the order on the platform myself. After placing the order, I went to get the room card, but she said that the room had no windows. The room opened by the front desk had windows for the same price, but the platform said that there were no windows and some had windows. The carpets in the corridors and rooms were dirty and musty, and I would lack oxygen when I slept at night. The air was not circulating. It was a garbage hotel among garbage.

It's my first time staying here. The room is very good. The movie screen is large and there are many movies. The room layout is also very beautiful, the windows are also large, the front desk service is also very enthusiastic, and the hygiene is also very clean. It is worth recommending
