Good location, short walk to The Bund , Nanjing walking street and metro station . Clean room and good service.

I was captivated by the art deco-style paintings, furniture, and fixtures; it felt like stepping into the world of Jeeves and Wooster or a Christie murder novel. Such elegance seems overlooked by the new money in town, seeking overpriced, soulless skyscrapers. Yet, the service was exceptional, and breakfast was delightful. It was heartwarming to see concierges carrying luggage to taxis and bellhops offering elevator assistance, embodying the charm of the 1920s in every detail. The location was ideal, perfectly situated for the visa office and a fantastic Michelin-starred restaurant just across the street, hidden among the enchanting old streets of Shanghai.

Great location. 2 streets away from the Bund. Great breakfast. Good variety. If I'm back in Shanghai, I'll love to stay here again. One bad experience: the reception in charge lady, think she's a manager, more matured, asked if we wanted to upgrade the room. When we refused to pay, she said she can't upgrade us. That's very bad for a reception

The hotel is conveniently located on the Bund. Service was very courteous and the rooms were clean and spacious. It is close to many food options with very traveller friendly opening hours. Would highly recommend.

Positives: The location is great, 5 min walk from Nanjing Street and 10 min walk from the Bund. There are lots of great restaurants around, and you can have food delivered to the hotel 🥰 The bed was very comfy and slept really well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Could be better: Someone else wrote a review about their upgrade. I can confirm that having a room upgrade for the 'city' view' is not worth it. I would've preference an upgrade for a slightly bigger room. The view was disappointing. The bathroom - the water pressure in the shower was quite sad. Replacing the shower heads might help with that. The sealant around the shower cabin could do with being cleaned better or replaced. Overall, I'd stay there again, mainly for the location.

As mentioned in my previous review, we stayed at this hotel for 4 nights during our first stop in Shanghai and 1 more night in our second stop. This is the review for our second stop. When we checked in the 2nd time, there was no warm welcome. In fact, the receptionist had a sour look on her face, not friendly or welcoming at all. We don't remember her name, it was Fanny? Fandy? Anyway, she said that our bed was 1.5 meters and asked if we wanted a bigger bed at 1.8 meters. We realised this was somewhat similar to how when we first checked in during our 4 nights stay. This was exactly how the hotel reception would "persuade" you into paying more for your room. They will either say things like, "Your bed is small. Do you want to upgrade?" or "Your bedroom is facing the aircon vents. Do you want to upgrade?" All this scheme in getting guests to pay more than what they have already paid for is really unethical. We have stayed in many hotels in many countries and have never come across such tricks before. On top of that, we stayed at several other hotels during our visit to China, and all other hotels gave us excellent service. This was, unfortunately, not the best. After these 2 experiences, I'm sorry to say that we will not return to this hotel the next time we visit Shanghai.

I booked this hotel because my friend told me about excellent location and convenient to travel around town.

We had a great stay and we highly recommend this hotel. The staff is very welcoming and very professional. The location is perfect !
