Very friendly staff, aesthetic rooms, and close to beautiful parks and temples! Nice suburban area away from the rush yet still close enough to experience main attractions.

This hotel, which has been operating for many years, was once considered a boutique establishment. I finally decided to fulfill my long-standing desire to stay here, as I wasn't driving this time. The room was quite spacious, and you could tell from the architecture and the original decor that a lot of thought went into it back in the day. To be honest, my stay left me a bit concerned. The original design has a high step between the bed and living room areas, and there's another step in the living room itself. With the dim, greenish lighting, I was constantly worried about tripping while moving around. The light switches, though innovative for their time, are now hard to figure out due to age and lack of instructions. The shower design, with its seating area, was quite thoughtful for its era. However, the shower door has no sealing strip to keep water in, and the showerhead is just mounted on a fixed holder that doesn't swivel. You literally have to hold the showerhead while showering, which was quite unexpected. The toilet seat seems to be a later replacement, and it's completely mismatched and ill-fitting. 😓😓😓 What truly baffled me was that the 'clean' towels provided on the second day had visible stains, as shown in the picture. While I'm sure they were disinfected, offering such towels to guests is simply unacceptable. It's especially frustrating that in an age where most hotels offer late check-out, I received a call reminding me about check-out just half an hour beforehand, with the excuse that many guests were checking in that day. As someone who stays in hotels over 200 days a year, I can tell you that's no excuse; it reflects a shortage of housekeeping staff and disorganized management. I will not be staying at this hotel again! As a Trip.com Black Diamond member, I stand by my review.

This small hotel is well situated, in a popular area close to many restaurants and bars and the Jing’an Temple. The studio rooms are definitely different, retro-style split-level with a sunken bath etc. I felt like I was in an old James Bond movie! I did have problems with the heating/airco, which just kept heating more and more (it reached 34 degrees!!) and didn’t react to any buttons. Solved by switching it off altogether!

In my opinion, this hotel is past its prime.
Cleanliness falls short of expectations—a foul smell greeted us once we looked under the bed.
The room is badly lit, making the already dark bathroom and toilet feel unclean.
Although the shower is large and looks nice, the weak water pressure makes for a disappointing experience.
Positives include a comfortable bed, good pillows, and a convenient location.

This hotel is a bit outdated. It use to be a bit special back then but now it’s old. Curtain have holes, there is cigarette stains on the bathtube.. layout of the room are interesting but finally not ergonomic, toilet are basically in the bedroom, you can close it with a glass door but there is a lack of privacy, shower is front of the toilet wich is not super hygienic, bathtub is inside the bedroom it could be interesting but there is a bit of suage smell.. I like the idea of reclaim wood etc.. but it make the place very outdated. Good point bed are comfortable.

The shower door was only a half-panel, so water splashed everywhere. The ground floor garden restaurant was unavailable, making the price unreasonable.

Urbn Boutique is a go to place for when I staycation. There is a great restaurant downstairs, the location is right where there is a million things to do, the rooms are great and the whole hotel has a cool design. Also an excellent coffee shop just next door. I will be there again!

This hotel's biggest draws are its value for money and location. For just over 900 HKD, it's a rare find in downtown Puxi (Jiaozhou Road), with plenty of restaurants nearby and convenient transportation. Compared to Shangri-La and other star hotels in Shanghai that easily cost over 2000 RMB, this price truly reflects its worth.
However, the facilities are undeniably old, likely due to it being a renovated old building. The room layout was awkward; my room even had steps. The overall lighting was dim, and besides the desk lamp, there was hardly any other light source at the room, making it unsuitable for working. The wardrobe door was also broken and wouldn't open. Thankfully, the shower had hot water and the coffee machine worked fine – things that are standard in budget hotels in China, so I was 'grateful' to find them here. The hallway was equally dim, and with the old carpet, it felt a bit eerie.
More disappointingly, the soft services also fell short. The front desk staff didn't make a good first impression. There were noticeable particles on the black carpet in the elevator that could have easily been vacuumed but weren't. On the day of my check-out, around 8 AM, the male front desk attendant on duty was sleeping face down on the desk. While I understand the辛苦 of night shifts, this felt more like something you'd see in a cheap motel. Passing by the elevator entrance in the evening, I saw a security guard sprawled out on a chair meant for guests, showing no inclination to move or embarrassment when he saw me.
Honestly, seeing these scenes made me feel a bit sad. 16 years ago, I came here to dine; there was a magnificent white magnolia in the garden, the restaurant was grand, and the hotel had a certain elegance. Now, the highly acclaimed 'Le Coq Bistro' inside stands in stark contrast to the hotel's overall dilapidated state. While the price is low, many branded budget hotels in China offer a better overall experience for half the price.

Great hotel in a fantastic location. The entrance and greenery is spectacular and the fact that a bunch of raw materials were reclaimed from the former French concession buildings was such a cute and charming sustainable touch.
