Shangri-La Chang Palace

A hotel with charming, local décor and a view from the room that never gets old. Very spacious room. Perfectly located within the city, yet far enough from the main streets to avoid the noise. I highly recommend it.

Hotel is in the middle of Shangri la ancient town but in a quiet alley so it's quiet and convenient. They only provided us with disposable towels. Can see turtle hill from the room.

Really liked this hotel with traditional ******* style rooms, there was also a nice outdoor balcony area which overlooks the temple nearby. The lady who owns the place is really kind and sweet, even offering for me to have dinner with her family one day. Really recommend this hotel in Shangri La 👍

The positives first: the location is great, situated right in the heart of the old town. I also enjoyed the ambience. Some points to critique: there were a decent amount of cobwebs in my room and it had also been a while since it was dusted. Furthermore, the washing machine is situated in a public bathroom where the floor is covered in urine. There is also no dryer, despite it being very cold, so your clothes won’t dry in less than 2 days. The warm water takes ages. There are no real towels provided. Lastly, the service should be improved: there is rarely anyone (or only a six-year old) at reception, meaning it’s hard to ask for anything or check-in and check-out.

The location, spaciousness of the villa, spectacular view, and cleanliness were all 10/10. We were extremely happy with our stay. I would also like to say a huge thank you to the host for her outstanding service. When our friend accidentally locked himself out of the room, she came immediately to help us open the door (that’s night time around 11pm😓). She also helped us with our laundry at no extra charge. We would have loved to stay longer, but unfortunately had to change our schedule due to our son’s illness. Thanks for everything!

good room. heater takes some time. floor heating is only at a particular area of the floor. the worst part of the stay was the service. the reception is always unmanned. no one of there most of the time.
