Came in on Saturday evening, what a lovely experience. Great food and great service from Emily. A lovely meal and a lovely pub to spend the evening in. I recommend the Monterey Jack and bacon burger, Delish. Emily was very welcoming and very accommodating, very attentive would defo recommend

Visited and stayed for 2 nights to visit our daughter who has just moved in to a flat nearby. Very easy check in and our room was very pleasant with the most amazingly comfy bed and pillows. The pub/hotel is situated near to Bakewell where we had a lovely day out. Our breakfast was lovely on both mornings with perfectly cooked poached eggs! If I had one gripe, it would be that the shower cubicle could do with some attention to detail with cleaning. We will definitely return as all staff were very friendly and accommodating. Thank-you very much.

Been here a couple of times for Sunday lunch. The first time was exceptional. We had the pork and veggie option. It is honestly the best Sunday dinner in Sheffield that I’ve had for a very long time. We visited between Xmas and New Year then returned in January. It was still outstanding.

We went for a Sunday roast. Poor portions of meat. Vegetable consisted of 1 small carrot and a very small sprig of broccoli. Apart from the portions it was tasty. I’ve been here many times but not sure if I’ll be back.

Great service from Emily who looked after our party of twelve. Very attentive and all our food was fabulous. Three families met at the cross scythes as a get together after half term. Thanks Emily for a lovely experience.

Ate at the Cross Scythes as a group last Sunday and the whole experience was disappointing. The first problem was the length of time we had to wait for someone to take our order. When the orders were taken we were told that a couple of items were not available for certain dishes, this surprised us as we had booked our meal for early in the day and not late at night. Replacements were offered but, unfortunately, it made little difference as we were not completely impressed by what was put in front of us, so much so that some of us are foregoing the deposits we have paid for Christmas dinner there after what we considered to be a well below par meal. The menu online did say that unlimited extra veg and Yorkshire puddings were available but none were offered to us at any time. We had to ask for extra gravy as the amount given was, we thought, insufficient for our meals and the size of the plates used we would consider questionable for a Sunday lunch, etc. One further thing is that when you order a £16.50 plate of food for Sunday lunch, you would expect more than one slice of meat on your plate. Finally, one other off-putting thing for us was that the Cross Scythes is dog-friendly.

Stayed at the Cross Sythes in a balcony room which was lovely to sit out on when it was not raining The Cross Sythes is very quaint with upstairs and downstairs both very quirky and a nice change from your bog-standard chain . As well as the balcony in the room there is a large beer garden to the rear and a smaller area to the front and huge car park , The room was very comfortable with storage space and up a couple of steps was a well-equipped bathroom Breakfast which was included was delicious with plenty of choice , we also had an evening meal there which again was very good,

My wife and I stayed at the Cross Scythes for a night while meeting up with her son who lives in Sheffield. The room was clean, but there was a slight smell from the toilet! However, shut the door, no problem. The rooms although all booked (4 rooms)) were quiet, suiting us perfectly having driven up from Warwickshire earlier in the day. The bed, duvet and pillows were comfortable providing a good night’s sleep. The breakfast this morning was well cooked with lots of options for the more discerning among us. Thank you, we will return.
