Ibis Strasbourg Centre Gare

Strasbourg Train Station
Conveniently located across the train station, this hotel was a great base to explore Strasbourg and Colmar during Christmas. Check-in was super quick, and the front desk staff was very attentive and answered any questions we had. COVID-19 protocols were strict, which was very positive. The room was a standard IBIS room, so nothing spectacular to write about, but still served its purpose and didn’t come with any surprises. Check-out was again fast, and walking across the street to get on our train for our next destination was priceless.

Quartier Européen - Orangerie
Lovely place to stay- away from the touristy are of the Petite France, yet only a fifteen minute walk there. Quite a few nice restaurants in the area with mainly locals who go there - not your usual tourist traps. The hotel is small, with a slightly oldfshioned air about it - none of your hyper-modern dark corridors and minimalist design. Friendly, smiling service. It feels a bit like coming home. There’s also a smlall spa and if you let them know in time they’ll switch the sauna on for you. Twenty minutes is all it takes. Breakfast is varied, with your usual bacon and scrambled eggs, then hard boiled eggs, small selection of cheeses and cold cuts, fruit, seeds, muesli, juices, breads and pancakes.

Where to begin. My minuscule room on the second floor. I smelled less sewage in the Paris metro. The room stinks so bad. There was no air-conditioning or any type of ventilation. And if you open the window all you could hear was noise at three in the morning from the bar that is downstairs. But you can’t complain about the bar because the family that runs the hotel runs the bar. Avoid this place at all costs. Now they did comp my room and move me to a lovely room in the courtyard and that was fine but these rooms over the bars should not even be allowed to be given to people. When I did complain they said they know it’s a problem but nobody’s doing anything to solve it so just beware. So the first night when I was in the tiny room that stunk like sewage I had to open the window but I couldn’t sleep because of the bar noise. So let me tell you about the lovely gentleman at reception. After the bar close he had a couple of girls that were hanging out in front of the hotel talking so loudly and drinking. I was sitting by the window because it was fresh air he literally pissed in the street. I am here to tell you just avoid this place. It could be so charming but it’s not. Now if you can get one of the big rooms in the courtyard I thought it was lovely. But it’s not worth risking. If you get a room over the street Run. Breakfast was also not very good. Really this is like a one star hotel. Buyer beware.

Compared to the ibis and other hotels near the train station, this price is not so high. This is more than one kilometer from the railway station. In fact, there are several mercures along the way. But this is recommended by Ctrip. The advantage is that he is in the city center, next to the Spring Department Store, and the lV shop. Shopping is convenient. But the service is not as good as the previous ibis.

trip.com has become [Best Western Hotel de France], but the actual name was Hotel Kaijo. I think it was probably renewed and changed its name. I was lost when the name was different, but the reservation was made properly. There is a description in the review that there is a bathtub, but it was not in the room I stayed in, so if you want, you should request the hotel. The washbasin was clean or renewed, and the shower room and toilet were unusually separate. But I was worried about it because there was a mysterious dirt on the wall of the shower room.

We loved this hotel and its location on the island. It's within walking distance from the train station and the island can easily be walked. We had 3 nights at the hotel. The front desk, especially the Ugandan employee, was so friendly and helpful--many thanks. As was the restaurant staff very accommodating, especially with children. The hotel is super clean and the rooms very much in good order. We loved our apartment and it was great for the kids. Many restaurants just around the corners. Absolutely do get the breakfast with a wide variety of foods. Only missing perhaps was an omelette but everything else we like was presented. Be sure to check out the fresh cheese usually presented at the entrance. We will stay at this hotel again when we return... You can hear street noise, however I had brought earplugs and my children were not disturbed
