PEN and Parchment by Greene King Inns

We stayed at the Pen and Parchment on New Year’s Eve , we had early lunch in the restaurant which was lovely I had the Scampi and my wife had the vegetarian Sunday lunch which said was very nice , After a visit to the RSC to see the matinee performance we returned to check in to our room which was spacious clean and well decorated, After a freshen up we went down to the bar for a few drinks before going out for the evening , the staff all really friendly and the drink prices very reasonable , After a night out we returned to our room for a comfortable nights sleep , Breakfast in the morning superb large portions . A great experience with good food and great service, a special mention to Will who went above and beyond to make our visit one to remember. Definitely a place we will be visiting again soon. Looking forward to it already.

The room was super cosy and tastefully decorated. Everything was clean and tidy. The food was perfect pub grub which they did well. Great location for town and you felt like you were living in a part of stratfords history.

Very comfortable one night stay, wish I stayed two night. At the opposite end of town from train station though we had light luggage. On the Avon river. We were not in the original building with the pub but the annex beside. The room was top notch, brand new fixtures, very comfortable. Wish I had stayed two nights. Unfortunately I was jet lagged so could not sleep properly even though the bed was so nice. I would recommend and stay again without hesitation. Easy walking to all historic sights, shops, and back to train station.

First off the food was excellent. We were a party of 8 and had a variety of dishes from cajun chicken to fish and chips, risotto and pie. All of it was very tasty and good portion sizes. Ambience cosy and comfortable. Only slight snag was the waiting time - it appeared our order was slightly mislaid which also resulted in one dish being forgotten. However the staff were very apologetic, gave us this dish for free and a discount on the rest. Would definitely return.

Had a lovely meal , my butternut squash and beetroot risotto was delicious and beautifully presented .my husband loved his burger with camenbert on it and said how nice it was . Price was good , a cosy pub close to where we were staying we were very pleased

My first solo trip away! Even though I am confident in most scenarios, going to Stratford- Upon-Avon was outside my comfort zone. Very friendly staff and a big thanks to Daniel (day one) for making me welcome and Heather this morning for a lovely breakfast. Both took a keen interest in the client (me) so well done to them. The room was excellent and very clean. Although the stairs are steep to the rooms above the pub, this was pointed out so no problem from my point of view. You do get a bit of noise from the main road but you are in the town centre so to be expected. The pub isn't noisy on a mid week break at this time of year so getting a table wasn't an issue. Wi-Fi is also excellent throughout the hotel (so I could watch football and cricket with no lag). Good selection of lagers on draft and a couple of ales on pump. Although not a gin drinker, I noticed they have an excellent selection. Dinner on day two, very nice, breakfast this morning, even better. If I ever decide to go back and see the random bloke from history who is featured heavily in the town, I will be going back to The Pen and Parchment by Green King

Easy to find, car park nearby. Close to RSC. Superb restaurant menu, great bar and breakfast was superb. Bedrooms are spacious, well appointed with great beds. Staff could not have been more helpful from start to finish. Highly recommend this for drinks, eats and sleeps. Really one of the best places I've used in years of travel.

Lovely traditional pub. Carrie-Ann our hostess was lovely. Very bubbly, friendly and chatty. Really made us feel welcome. The food was lovely. I had steak n ale pie and mash, my mum had fish n chips. Good prices. Would definitely return.
