Average stay with mixed experiences
The hotel is generally clean inside, but the outside of the windows was very dirty. Unfortunately, our bedroom view was blocked by façade boards, so all we could see was cladding, which was disappointing.
The outdoor hot spring was an interesting experience. The facilities are old but functional, and staff at the outdoor pools were efficient. The bento box menu looked appealing and reasonably priced, but when we tried to order at around 8pm, we were told it had already sold out. On a positive note, the gentleman at reception was extremely helpful and kind—he arranged takeaway food for us at a very reasonable price with minimal surcharge, which saved us from having to walk into town late at night. We were very grateful for his help.
Breakfast was quite chaotic, with guests pushing in and food, plates, and cutlery frequently running out. It wasn’t relaxing, but it was certainly an experience.
The hotel is not located in Beitou centre, so be prepared for a very steep 20-minute walk each way. Also worth noting: the swimming pool in the gym area is apparently for VIP guests only and not available to regular guests.
Overall, this is a very old-school hotel that would benefit from more investment and modernisation. Was it the best stay? No. Was it the worst? Also no. Would I return? Probably not—but if I had no other choice, I could stay again for sure.
