Stayed recently as a family of 4. On arrival it seemed lovely, the car parking was easy, the location is great, right near the river and a short walk to the shops and steam railway. The downstairs area is modern with a nice bar and restaurant. Super friendly, efficient & professional team. Made to feel really welcome. Our stay was good overall and breakfast was ok but nothing spectacular, but the room wasn’t great. It was a big room which is nice for a family of 4, but it needs work. The decor is bland, no curtains just blinds so you’re awake as soon as the sun comes up, and it’s noisy too being right by the road. There is inadequate storage, a broken standard lamp that kept falling over and was really heavy so a bit dangerous with kids, one bedside lamp didn’t have a bulb, the tv remote was missing, told it was stolen but not replaced for our stay. The bathroom is huge but really dated and doesn’t make the most of the space. The room wasn’t very clean in places such as the legs of the bedside cabinets, skirting boards etc which haven’t been dusted in a long while, the sheets were stained and had hairs on, there was a pair of false eyelashes in the middle of the bathroom floor. The kids single beds were really narrow so my son kept falling out. But there was a good selection of tea/coffee etc in the room and the complimentary bottled water was nice to have. We probably wouldn’t stay again because of the cleanliness which is a shame because otherwise it was a nice place.
