Beautiful peaceful resort , with amazing views and super helpful staff. The evening meal was amongst one of the best we have every had and very reasonable for the quality. The approach is steep and full of potholes - we managed to burst a tyre on the approach but the staff were extremely helpful in getting someone out promptly to replace it . I would definitely recommend a visit

Nice place in an isolated, rural environment with beautiful views over the lake. Every single member of the staff has been extremely friendly, smiling and attentive, with a special mention for the super ladies attending the breakfast room. Said that, despite its four stars classification, this is not the luxury resort that they portray themselves to be. It is just another one of those places that in Italy are known as “agriturismo”, and not the best I have ever seen. The so-called “superior” double rooms we got were actually quite basic, and we had some problems with the flux of hot water that were never resolved. Especially on our last night, on a weekend when the structure was fully booked, at some point in the evening our tap completely ran out and nobody was around to help. I have never before been in a four stars hotel where there are no front desk services from 9:00 pm to 8:00 am, and only in case of emergencies you have to disturb the owner on his personal number. Overall, a good place for a weekend outing to be immersed in nature and possibly be pampered by their wellness services (which we didn’t try). But we had booked five nights to use this place as a basis to visit the region, which was obviously a mistake on our part.

I very much love Italy and even though I travelled to Magione just for a wedding I decided to make the best of it. The hotel however did have its pros and cons. Be prepared and book a taxi or rent a car. The hotel is up a mountain, I wouldn't recommend walking. Upon arrival we checked in and settled down. Most staff here are Italian and a few understand English, best knowing some basic phrases and words. They serve buffet breakfast but its not self service, the staff serve you as you pick out what you want. They don't serve lunch only dinner. If you like eating throughout the day buy snacks before hand. You also need to book dinner in advance, so tell them that morning for the evening. The hotel I'd eco so bear it in mind if you go in summer, expect wasps, mosquitoes etc. They also keep a honeycomb at breakfast so you can have fresh honey, but again if you do you might get the odd wasp buzzing about your food. The pool is lovely, has a great view and sun loungers. Not many umbrellas so get one early. They provide pool towels at reception. Our room was called September and despite decor being a bit outdated the rest was lovely. They had upgraded the ac and we were cool throughout day and night. The room is at the back to the side so it's quiet and you get a lovely view from the bathroom. Bed was big and comfy, tv had netflix too. My advice is keep shutters closed in summer if you want room to be cool and keep creepy crawlies out. Don't use the safe in the room, it's old and they had to break it open when my husband tried using it. Lock things in your suitcase better. There's a mini fridge but items are charged to your room that are used. Bathroom and shower is spacious, big enough for two people. They don't provide a clothes iron so I took a travel one for the wedding. Bring adaptors and careful when removing or putting them in, wiring is a bit old so sockets on walls are a bit loose. I think if you stay here for a day or two it's fine, it's a shame we couldn't explore further as we were limited in location and transport.

Lovely setting with incredible views. Our room was spacious and very nicely done. Excellent food and wine. Great service at reception - the team were very helpful in dealing with our requests eg allowing an early check-in on this occasion - very responsive on emails. Shame we could only stay for one night!

Location is beautiful but very remote, it's up a mountain up a very steep, winding, dirt road. You are sort of locked in to dealing with the property as going out to town for anything else is a real issue as taxis overcharge you about 50 euro just to bother going up the mountain to fetch you. Best have a rental car for sure (if it can handle the steep dirt roads). Getting back to civilization is required for a long stay as the 'resort' simply does not offer you anything between breakfast and dinner, i.e. no lunch options. When you do finally get to eat within their restaurant portions are small and overpriced (even tap water is charged). Also, people with any sort of dietary requirements will struggle here as, unless the restaurant are informed (and bother to remember), they do not cater for any restrictions. In addition, during the day, you will be pestered by wasps and flies while eating and mosquitos during the night. Don't expect to savor your food and wine in peace. Stayed in the September room, where the aircon worked just fine (was new apparently) other rooms were not so lucky. Decor was rustic and outdated but clean, barring some extremely large cobwebs littering the rafters, frames and anything the cleaners would struggle to reach. Stepping outside of the room means immediately being in rural italy and, during summer, this meant the constant buzz of locusts and cicadas (day and night). There seemed to be a constant leak coming from somewhere on the roof (maybe the aircon outlet) so wasps were just outside the door wanting to have a sip of water all day. Inside you had to share the room with a fair amount of spiders and other small bugs, no roaches or anything though. If you are squeemish about bugs avoid this property, plenty of ants about too so don't leave food out in your room unless you want little visitors. The pool is nice and the view from it amazing, except rediculous amounts of bugs seem to suicide drop in to it all day leaving it litterred with corpses day round. The pool is only skimmed once a day in the morning so by the afternoon you'll be used to just wading through the dead bugs if you want to stay cool. Temps hit around 35-40c while we were there. When there was a strong wind, the cliff-side umbrellas were pushed in to the pool. So that was fun. That said, the hotel did place warnings not to move the umbrellas, I suppose that was the reason. Also, not really enough loungers for a full hotel of people (with their kids) to sit at. We made do though. That phrase sort of highlights out entirely experience at the property. "We made do" with what was offered but for the premium it was worth to stay at the property we felt very short-changed. Despite its 4 star rating, it really only deserves it for those looking for the ideal rural aesthetic... everything else was really a 3 star experience.

A truly magical place located on a hill in Umbria looking over Tuscany on the other side of the lake. The rooms are spacious and clean. Given the location it’s very quiet at night. Super dog friendly Hotell with good surroundings for walk. The pool and spa area is very nice and included in the stay. We had a fantastic dinner at the hotel with great recommendations by the chef. Would love to revisit

Amazing location! Great pool with astounding views. The rustic chic style of the place is gorgeous! The real surprise was the truly excellent food! Dinner was delicious!!! The only downside were the wasps. I know this is not really in their control. But I saw no attempt to deal with them. None of the guests could eat outside at breakfast. I understand the staff may be used to them, but the guests are absolutely not. I would go back for everything else, but the wasps would stop me from returning unfortunately.
