Airelles Gordes, la Bastide

Gordes|2.06km from Abbaye Notre-Dame de Senanque
La Bastide has become one of my top 3 favorite hotels of all time. This was my first visit, and it certainly won't be my last. I had no idea it was built into the hillside and that it was right in the middle of the village of Gordes. ARRIVAL. From the moment we drove up until the moment we were left to unpack in our room, the service and personal attention we received was impeccable and perfectly executed. ROOM. We stayed in the exquisite Baron de Simiane suite. Words can't do it justice. I've attached a few photos, but also check out the website. The in-person experience far exceeds any gorgeous photo taken. SERVICE. We received top-notch service everywhere: valet, front desk, concierge, maid service, restaurant staff, and the pool. Everyone was very polite and helpful, and there was never a wait. RESTAURANTS. We ate at both restaurants - Clover Gordes and L'Orangerie. The outdoor seating and the views were fantastic. I tried something new at Clover Gordes - the Zucchini Flower - which was quite tasty. In Provence, they certainly love their olive oil. Be prepared to try many kinds. Note: If you watched ”Emily in Paris” on Netflix, the lunch scene in season 3, episode 6, was at the Clover Gordes. POOL. It was really hot the week we were there (103 degrees Fahrenheit). We spent one afternoon at the pool. It's a grassy setting with its own self-serve gelato stand. SPA. We didn't have time to experience the spa this time. Next time. WHAT I LIKED MOST. The location, the beauty, and the aroma throughout the hotel. I figured out that the scent was from the Airelles Holy Amber candles and diffusers. SUGGESTIONS. Plan to be there on a Tuesday so that you can experience the farmer's market in Gordes - right up the street from the hotel.

Le Jas de Gordes
4.5/559 Reviews
If you are exploring the hilly roads and villages of Luberon, you will come to Gordes, one of the most beautiful of those towns (although there are so many). Le Jas des Gordes sets a high standard for comfortable accommodations, just under a mile from the center. With beautifully manicured gardens, great breakfast, efficient staff and rooms with modern fixtures, this hotel blends history with great attention to detail. While we spent most of our stay exploring the surrounding area, the pool area with large covered seating is superb.
Hotel Restaurant du Parc en Bord de Rivière

In a wonderful position next to the river but a great disappoin**ent . The hotel room was good but the food in the restaurant was inedible and I suggest if you stay there you eat elsewhere . It was a very badly balanced set menu as I sat down to read it My heart sank as I had been looking forward to the dinner My wife had was what was called Tarte tartin of vegetables it was a tasteless cold mush and was left unfinished Main course was the dish of the day described as duck with home made French fries I would be very very surprised that they were home made if they were the chef had done a good job in making them look and taste just like frozen chips the duck was stewed and again inedible and tasteless I had Foie Gras OK but just cut off a roll of supermarket Foie Gras or again well disguised to look and taste like it had been bought from a supermarket I was then left with a very limited choose for the main course I did not want Maigre the hamburger was vegetarian the beef was an extra €16 on the B menu so went a la Carte and chose a very small dried up trout with masses of artichokes as the only vegetable It was not worth risking the desserts clearly nobody could cook We wanted to relax after our “dinner “ in a bar or lounge There was a bar but no seats we were directed to what they called the salon it was in fact just two plastic chairs at the end of a restaurant that was enormous and had no charm The dining area had been set for perhaps 100 Wisely only About 8 people had heard the warning with nowhere to sit we had to go to our room We had left our lovely home to stay away a night and ended up in really no more than a motel with empty restaurant poor food and I have to say friendly staff who I am sure were looking forward to closing for the winter We very wisely cancelled our second booked night and left
Le Petit Palais d'Aglae

The hotel is located in a stunning location just outside of Gordes and overall we had an great stay. The staff were friendly throughout and always available to answer questions. The room itself had a fantastic view and was comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and there were a variety of things including pastries, hams, cheese, yoghurts, fruit salad and eggs. There were only a few downsides which did not detract too much. The wi-fi was poor in the room, frequently having no connection to the internet, so don't bother trying to stream any Netflix (there is a cinema room you can book and borrow DVDs from the reception). The spa is limited to a infra-red sauna and a jacuzzi, both were nice but it was confusing how the system worked as the person manning the spa did not speak any English. The restaurant in the hotel was also a tad disappointing, the presentation was excellent but the flavours were lacking, for €65 per person we should eaten in one of the many good restaurants in town. Gordes is beautiful so I would definitely return to the hotel, with the only difference that we would eat out in town.
Les Bories et Spa

The positives: The room was great: new, immaculate, with a bathtube and shower, nicely decorated, with a beautiful view of Luberon. The dinner was excellent as well as the food at lunch time near the pool; The pool is gorgeous. Now for the downsides, explaining why I say it's good instead of very good: it's a 5 stars hôtel, why on earth do they put 2 horrible small Nescafe instant coffee as complimentary? Why not having a Nespresso machine as the price you pay? It really looks cheap! Same with having 1 small bottle of Evian for 2 as complimentary! Same with paying 4 euros for an espresso by the pool, served in a carton cup... The service at the spa is ok but not fantastic: the massage was good enough but not the best I had. They don't introduce you to the spa when you arrive so you have to look yourself for the relaxing lounge. The space is not big so you find it easily...but it's a lack of professionalism. The lady at the réception is very pro but not very warm. You don't really feel welcomed. All the staff at the restaurant is great and very pro. Overall, like it's often the case in this kind of place, you have the feeling that you pay too much for some of the services. At this price, it should be perfect.

Mas des Herbes Blanches Hôtel & Spa – Relais & Châteaux

Hotel just outside Joucas is in a beautiful, quiet location and commanding amazing views across the Luberon valley. Perfect location to visit Gordes, Bonnieux, Menerbes and other stunning hilltop villages in this region. Staff were extremely friendly on check-in and in general throughout our 7 night stay. Our room was Superior Room but certainly not close to 5 star standard. Firstly many dings on the walls and scrapes from luggage. Easily fixed with a coat of paint but not done on our arrival. Also mould on bathroom tiling and grout where fixture had been removed. Pump soap and amenity dispensers found in the bathroom, rather than individual toiletries, always look cheap and appear to be counting pennies and trying to economize which I don’t expect in a true 5 star hotel. One 330ml of water per day during service also suggests same and another guest was seen complaining about this and comparing to other 5 star hotels. There appeared to be many helpful and friendly staff during our stay but service just did not seem great and somewhat unrefined, especially at breakfast, which seemed chaotic. On our last day, a Friday and likely busiest day, one poor guy was trying to service the whole of the breakfast terrace on his own. No pool service really either, so again, seemingly plenty of staff just not attending to 5 star expectations. Beautiful area, views and buildings at the hotel but just needs some refining, attention to detail and taking care of some key expectations to become truly 5 star.
