We had high hopes for our anniversary trip. It had been years since I had visited Venice and I was very excited about this hotel reservation that was a surprise for my wife. After arriving at the hotel at 10 pm we quickly left the room to walk around and have Dinner. The next morning we left the room at 6 am for a full day tour. When we returned that afternoon to get ready for an event, my wife noticed that the purse she was planning on wearing for the event was missing. After looking through her things in the closet she realized that a total of 4 items were gone. One of the items was an expensive purse handed down from her grandmother. The total of the 4 items was great. At this same time, two men opened the door to the room unannounced and when they realized we were in the room, they quickly turned around and left (no explanation, no apology for the intrusion) The Hotel staff acted as if they were there to help but in reality they were just waiting for us to leave Venice so that they could claim that "no evidence was found in camera recordings". No effort to fix the situation has been made and communication has become more and more dismissive since we returned from our trip. No effort has been made and it is obvious that there is no intention to even attempt to help us with the loss. Very disappointed in this (((5 star))) hotel experience. Would definitely not stay here again, and would like to warn others to lower their expectations of customer service and satisfaction. Also, beware of theft in these high tourism sites.
