I enjoyed my stay in Xiahe and in this hotel. The furnishings and amenities are not new ( in fact the toilet wash basin was detached from its mountings and there was a water drainage issue). There is no climate control but this would be common in places like this @ 3000m altitude where spring/summer temperatures range between 5°C to 15 or 22°C, so it isn't needed.
The room boasts a great view of the river, the bed was comfortable, there is a kettle and free water supplied and a strong wifi signal. Labrang monastery is a 20 minute walk and the bus station is 15 minutes away. The best thing about this accommodation though is the attractive restaurant/bar/bistro. I dined and drank there every night. The Lhasa and Shangri-la beers are decent, as are the coffee, the pasta, the potato chips, and.pizza.
