Long Beach Motor Inn

Diamond in the rough! This place is amazing not because it’s filled with bling, but because it’s not. Sometimes you just want a good clean place to sleep because the scenery outside the door is fabulous. All I had to do is cross the street to go to your beach, but in my room, I had a kitchen with a stove, a fridge, a coffee maker. All I had to do is Bring my own food.

This is our 48th year going to York, ME and our third year staying at Long Beach Motor Inn. So very grateful for finding this Motel when we had to change places to stay. Gary and his fiancé Susan make you feel right at home. The place is very clean, well priced and right across the road from the beach. What more can you ask for. We would highly recommend this place to anyone.

When we visit the Maine Coastal area, we always stay at Long Beach. I am never disappointed. Directly across from the beach. Beautifully maintained pool and manicured landscaping. Complete with barbecue and 3 beautiful gazebos. A few minutes to restaurant and to the shops. I’m ultimately impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms and grounds. The owner is a true gentleman, always ready to help with anything he can. He refers to his guests as family and treats them as such . Looking forward to next year’s visit.

We paid top dollar to stay at this place because it is peak season to be here. We were here to visit family. We were not able to FIND the hotel because the lights on the sign were out. Once we parked and got to the office, we said we passed the place several times because the sign was not lit. We were told they don't turn their sign lights on during the busy season. We were let into the office area and promptly chastised for using a third-party online booking app because it forces them to raise their rates to pay the fees they have to pay out for the reservations. We were kept in the office for what seemed like a long time to get registered, as we were given all of the rules and regulations of the place, even given a slide presentation of all the hundreds of rules they have in place. We were told if we needed anything all we had to do was ask and it would be provided to us because they can't keep rooms stocked with these items. And that we would have to request a housekeeper because they wouldn't be automatically entering the rooms to clean them during the day. The proprietor then had to go into our room ahead of us in order to turn on the POWER for us. Once settling into our room we were in need of ice. Went back to the office to find out where the ice machine was, and told since Covid, the closest ice could be found somewhere down the street. The next morning, I went to the office to ask for coffee for our in-room coffee maker. We were then told they "don't have a license to dispense coffee in the state of Maine!!!" Among the list of rules, if we went to the beach we would have to rinse off with the hoses provided outside each room. This includes any beach chairs, etc. Then we were asked if we had any beach chairs in the car. The room, for the price, was very sub-standard. Seventies style wallpaper, furnishings, etc. A very strong musty smell in the room, the carpet was damp. The small fridge was not cold enough to MAKE our own ice. Towels were thin enough to see through. The pillows were thin and flat. The only way to use the complementary WIFI was to take our phone, tablet or laptop out into the parking lot and wave it around to get enough signal to send an email. There was a complementary postcard left there that had pictures of the hotel, and it was stained as if it had been in the room for 20 years. There was a tip envelope left for our convenience, yet no one was going to come in during our stay unless we requested it. The "sanitized for your protection" band that is usually over the lid or the toilet seat was literally just laid behind the seat. We didn't have to break it in order to use the toilet and it remained there the entire time. Bottom line, this room was way too sub-par for the price listed and the services provided. False advertising on all literature I found online or on the printed material at the hotel. I was shocked this place operated like this. Don't think I'd return any time soon, nor would I ever recommend it.

Our vacation was wonderful. So peaceful and relaxing .The pool is sparkling clean and kept so nice .The back of the property has plenty of space for family fun ,barbecues, shuffle board , volley ball, big gazebos to sit inside and play games or eat dinner, short walking trails, also walking around the hotel. The beach is at the end of the driveway. A swing looking out to the ocean to relax on . They have super clean and comfortable rooms all with small kitchens and cook tops. Its Family friendly and also for couples and single people . Lots of beautiful flowers and shrubs on the well kept property .You can see and feel the love of this property .The owner is honest and friendly and loves to welcome and give hospitality to his guests .We will be back and we will recommend to others.

Well another wonderful stay at Long Beach Motor Inn. This is the most wonderful place to stay. It’s like going home. Gary makes everyone feel like they are family. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are always clean and having the mini kitchen really helps with saving some money on food. We always feel so sad when we have to leave, this was our 3rd yr going and we already booked next yrs vacation! Thank you Gary for putting your heart into the Inn.

Our second year staying here and we can't wait to go back next summer. Gary goes out of his way to make sure his motel is clean and inviting. Directly across from the beach (easy walk). Can't ask for anything better! Would highly recommend it to people who will respect it and want to make their stay there special. Just the absolute best place to go right now on the beach. We needed 7 rooms together for a special family event we were having locally, and the owner Gary was very accommodating and supportive from the first phone inquiry call to our actual final check out. He did everything he could to accommodate our needs and last minute changes. He was very reassuring which was a blessing as we were pulling together a lot of other logistics. The location is perfect and the quaint property and modest rooms were exactly what we were looking for. We commented that “Gary runs a tight ship” and that’s a good thing. His expectations for our stay were clearly communicated to everyone up front upon check-in, from parking to trash removal - so there’s no guessing and no surprises.
