Mangkam Songtsen Rumai Resort is located in Mangkam County, Qamdo City, Tibet Autonomous Region. The guest rooms are very large and comfortable, the public areas are also much larger, and most importantly, the surrounding environment is very good, facing the Lancang River. The ice tongue stretches directly to the lakeside, a blue unlike anything on Earth. If you go in summer, you might even see ice avalanches, with huge chunks of ice crashing into the lake. The lake surface is dotted with ice floes, sparkling like a pool of diamonds in the sun. How to get there Navigate to Laigu Glacier. It's a 30-minute drive from Ranwu Town. Bring an oxygen tank just in case. Travel tips The best time to visit is June–September. Other seasons may have road closures. There are Tibetan guesthouses in the village. It's CNY 50 per night, simple but clean. Bring your own dry food. The village only has a small shop selling instant noodles. 🌿Bangda Grassland: A pasture in the clouds Near Bangda Town, this is a high-altitude grassland at 4,300 meters. The Yuqu River winds through it, and yak herds are scattered like black pearls on a green carpet. In summer, wildflowers bloom wildly, with purple gentians covering entire hillsides. Highlights At the end of the grassland are continuous snow-capped mountains, like a natural painting frame. Smoke rises from nomad tents, and you can go in for a bowl of butter tea. At sunset, the entire grassland is bathed in gold, and horse herds gallop towards the camp, breaking the evening light. That sense of freedom is something you'll never experience in the city. Kangning Temple Visit: 40 minutes, free admission, no reservation needed. Tibetan Buddhist temple, open all day. The meteorological station just issued a blue alert for heavy rain. Afternoon thunderstorms, strong winds, and short bursts of heavy rain are common in the directions of Zuogong, Mangkang, and Basu. The Nujiang Gorge section of G318 is prone to falling rocks. Sisters driving themselves should closely monitor road condition updates from "Chamdo traffic police." Bangda Airport sits at 4,334 meters above sea level. Avoid running or jumping. Don’t wash your hair or take a shower for the first couple of days. Book a hotel with oxygen supply in advance on Trip.com. Oxygen tanks in the city cost about 20–30 yuan each. If you get a headache, taking ibuprofen is better than toughing it out.
