Life advice: Visit Hangzhou and take a trip to Lingyin Temple!

Lingyin Temple is located to the west of Hangzhou's West Lake, backed by the North Peak, facing the Feilai Peak, with two peaks flanking it, towering trees, ancient temples in deep mountains, and clouds in myriad forms. In the past, the most familiar figure associated with Lingyin Temple was the monk Ji Gong. Now, among the popular activities at Lingyin Temple, there is the addition of the prayerful Eighteen Seeds. Moreover, Lingyin Temple is famous simply because it is Lingyin Temple. Founded during the Eastern Jin Dynasty, it has a history of more than 1,700 years and is Hangzhou's earliest prestigious temple, also a unique and shining presence among the '480 temples of the Southern Dynasties'. Currently, the main structures of Lingyin Temple include the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Mahavira Hall, the Hall of the Medicine Buddha, the Dharma Hall (also known as the Straightforward Hall), and the Avatamsaka Hall, forming the central axis, with the Hall of Five Hundred Arhats, the Ji Gong Hall, and the Liandeng Pavilion on either side, making for a grand and orderly construction. The Mahavira Hall houses a statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, which is based on a Tang Dynasty Chan Buddhist image, carved and assembled from twenty-four pieces of camphor wood, standing 24.8 meters tall, with a majestic and serene appearance, and a lively spirit, a rarity in China.
