Travel Essay: A Magical Encounter with the Dagu Glacier

As dawn broke, I set off promptly at 8:30 in the morning, embarking on my journey to the Dagu Glacier. Upon entering the scenic area, I hurriedly completed the ticket-checking procedures and then quickly walked to the waiting area to board the bus to Jinhou Lake. The bus was filled with bubbling anticipation as we headed towards Jinhou Lake. At the lake, I encountered the mischievous Tibetan macaques—carefully walking among them, always on guard for their potential 'sleight of hand' on my pockets. Ha-ha, who knows, they might just be the little thieves of the mountains! Watching their clever expressions, I couldn't help but laugh out loud. After bidding farewell to the monkeys, I took the bus to the next attraction—Dagu Lake. The lake was tranquil, and although the scenery was somewhat plainer compared to Jinhou Lake, it had its own serene beauty. After a brief stay by the lake, I continued on my journey. The bus slowly made its way along the road, while outside, herds of yaks were leisurely grazing, and occasionally, I could spot the 'little gifts' the yaks left on the grass, which was amusing and frustrating at the same time😂. Next, I arrived at the cable car station. The cable car slowly ascended, and as the altitude gradually increased, I finally reached the breathtaking height of over 4800 meters. At this altitude, people began to take out their oxygen tanks, as dizziness was inevitable. At the high altitude of the cable car station, the wind was strong and bone-chillingly cold. Fortunately, I had brought sunglasses, otherwise the intense glare from the snow would have been unbearable for my eyes. In terms of food, the conditions at the mountain top naturally couldn't compare to those at the base. A bowl of instant noodles cost 15 yuan, and even just adding hot water cost 3 yuan. Luckily, I had prepared self-heating meals and dry food in my backpack, making me self-sufficient. The trip to the Dagu Glacier was undoubtedly challenging, but every inconvenience was outweighed by the breathtaking natural beauty and the simple joys it presented. This is the true charm of traveling.
