The Lingyan Temple Tomb Pagoda Forest, located on the west cliff of Lingyan Temple in Changqing County, Jinan City, is a site where the successive abbots and eminent monks of Lingyan Temple have been buried since the Tang Dynasty. There are 167 pagodas and 81 steles from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, hence it is known as the 'Tomb Pagoda Forest'. Its number is second only to the Shaolin Temple in Dengfeng, Henan, making it the second largest pagoda group in China. The majority of the pagodas are made of stone, with diverse shapes, and are precious items for the study of sculptural art.
