Jiangnan water town, ink-washed Zhouzhuang

Zhouzhuang ancient town is located to the southeast of Suzhou city, at the junction of Kunshan, Wujiang, and Shanghai, and is one of the first national 5A-level tourist attractions. Surrounded by water on all sides, the town was built along rivers, with streets formed by water and markets along the streets. Major attractions include Fu'an Bridge, Twin Bridges, and Shen Hall, among others. On the well-shaped river network, 14 ancient stone bridges built during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties are well-preserved. Over 800 local households live by the river, with more than 60% of the residences still retaining the architectural style of the Ming and Qing periods. Drinking tea or dining by the water, while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the water town, has also become a part of the scenery. The black-awning boats, rowed by hand, carry tourists under the ancient bridges and gently sway beneath the lush, drooping willows, creating a series of stunning Jiangnan water town paintings. The vigorous and graceful figures of the boat-rowing village women and young wives, along with the beautiful images of tourists dressed in Hanfu, add a splendid touch of color to this ink painting.
