Upon arriving at Nanshan Temple on Mount Wutai, there are few visitors here, strolling in this castle-like temple, enjoying the tranquility and Zen spirit. The peace and Zen spirit here are unique. Nanshan Temple, built during the Yuan Dynasty, is one of the oldest temples on Mount Wutai and one of the temples that should not be missed. It is the largest temple complex on Mount Wutai. The stone and wood carvings here are second to none. The ancient stone carvings are eye-opening, featuring celestial maidens scattering flowers, Guiguzi descending the mountain, Mu Guiying taking command, Jiang Ziya fishing, those willing to be hooked, fairy music playing, the Eight Immortals crossing the sea, Zhuge Liang recruiting Jiang Wei, Zhang Fei fighting Ma Chao, as well as scenes from The Investiture of the Gods, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Journey to the West, Asking the Boy under the Pine, and Gathering Herbs from the Rocks. The splendid and exquisite stone carvings silently tell the tales of the years, leaving one in awe. The wood carvings are also exquisitely beautiful, each with its own unique craftsmanship. It is a fortunate fate to visit Nanshan Temple, this ancient Zen temple. Ascending the steps, the sky is clear with blue sky and white clouds. Here, every five steps there is a grid, every ten steps a pavilion. From here, looking far into the stage of Sita, climbing high and looking far, the soul is purified, the gloom and dust settled in the heart are swept away in an instant, and the whole body feels exhilarating. Coming here is not only to pray for students but also for my own growth in wisdom.
